If you look around the outside of the wheel lock/lug nut you will see a series of grooves or splines. The key it basically just a socket that has the correct grooves or splines inside to match up with the pattern on your wheel locks. If you do not have the correct "key" it will not engage the wheel lock and you will not be able to turn them.

Didn't you say the outsides spun? These splined ones are pretty good but you can deadblow a socket on enough to spin them off, correct?

I just placed an order for the black ones. Not the OEM set. Is Forgeline one of the wheel makers you have had problems with? I have the cheapo Dorman M14 x 1.5 that work fine, just really cheap feeling and looking.

They do make a version that has the sleeve that spins but the ones pictured do not. Like all automotive security measures wheel lock can be defeated with enough effort and are intended to be a deterrent. They make your car a hard target so that the thieves move on to an easier and less risky target.

I believe we have had some interference issues with Forgeline wheels.

Every wheel is different and it is impossible for Gorilla or us to keep track of much less document every possible custom wheel combination on the market. Wheel manufacturers typically inform their customers if something special is required to mount their wheels. Fitment issues have been extremely rare (we have had something like 3 instances out of several hundred set sold) but I believe a set of Forgeline wheels were involved in one case.

One of the most common questions I get is about the difference between the OEM locks and the "Aftermarket" locks. Here is a pic of the black aftermarket lock and the chrome OEM style lock. You can see that the aftermarket style lock has a smaller diameter to fit into those small lug openings. The OEM style is shorter and has a larger diameter.
