I had a RX8 6spd . Very nimble. Rotary motor made it more like the dirt bike car. Rev it up and go.
RX8 ,very little toqure and bad on gas (13to15mpg ), keep a quart of oil for about every 4th fill up and small gas tank.
I am sure you will like driving the Camaro better.
Hard to say about the cornering. The RX8 Can really go through the turns but funny powerband.
Camaro...Camaro....Search your feelings, you know this to be true. The RX8 is so whenever it came out the Camaro is NOW.

Camaro will be faster in a straight line but will be lost in the corners.
The RX-8 is amazingly light on its feet.

Don't be too sure about "Lost"...With almost 70MPH in slolam Pulling .88G I think this will be closer than you think!

The V6 Camaro should compare favorably. The RX8 is the darling of C&D, R&T etc. but they always seem to neglect how annoying a buzzy, low torque engine is during normal driving. Can't drive around town at 8000RPM all the time. Also, you're looking at $26-33k out the door for an RX8. At that point, get a 1SS.

I think it would be a good comparison. Maybe we will get to see some comparisons on these 2 machines ..

Had a 2005 RX-8, very nice BUT
- MPG not good
- burn oil
- engine flooding issue
- resale value not good

So true. And like everyone else says very low torque. I still have mines. I love the car but its time for a change. The 1SS seems to be the perfect replacement for it.

Burns oil by design to lubricate the engine.

Engine flooding no longer an issue after PCM flash.

Total BS. It's fine for everyday driving. The engine is certainly unique. The only annoying thing about it on a daily basis is lack of torque. You won't be winning any stoplight races but you'll be grinning ear to ear merging on a twisty on/off ramp.

I'm in the same boat. I love my RX8 but i'm ready for some neck snapping torque.

equally important as the lack of tq is the gearing.

according to edmunds, the rx8 manual does 0-60 in 7.0,
1/4 in 15.4
so we have the straights.
and with the lateral g's of the camaro, it should be close in the turns.
camaro ftw

Fail for quoting Edmunds as Truth.

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Well, their times on the Camaro are in line with everyone elses. They gave the V6 a 6.0 flat, but included that its 5.7 with 1ft roll-out

Fail for knocking people who are quoting reviews....... Its all we have. So if we dont quote #'s from reviews we might as well drop all the conversations about performance now.......

Well about the cheapest one you'll find on a new lot will be 28-30k. So it's closer to the 1ss in price. Performance wise of course it's a unique engine and they are lot of fun. I have not driven an RX8 but have owned 3 RX7's and am expert in 1st and 2nd generation tech.

I think it's a neat comparison and would be close but I would go for a Camaro with RS package over the RX8. However if it has the 18's and on a windy road then the Rx8 would have the upper hand. Both probably a drivers race with a crazy driver.

Like put the Stig in either one and a guy off the street in the other and stig prob win every time.

The .92/.93 was on the skid pad not the slalom, but your correct with the .88 with 68.9 ish on the slalom.

Im going to post this chart from Car and Driver like i did in the 350Z thread.

http://www.caranddriver.com/content/...ertrain_ss.pdf

I think it is nice to compare, but until C&D (or some other mag) has a full test it is all very theoretical.

Well their times for the Rx-8 are off enough to warrant that comment.

7.0 might be a good 0-60 in that car if you were eating a burger and talking on a cell phone at the same time...

Ya because no one would know the real world numbers on the Rx-8 which has only been out for... ohh 7 years or so

fail for not quoting a more "realistic" time for the rx8.
