Question: Do you need this if you install 40 series flowmaster

Question: Do you need this if you install 40 series flowmaster on your camaro.

Two pipes from each side of the engine. They have two cones in the pipes i labeled in red. What are these and do i need them if I put flowmasters. Also there's not much room underneath for the flow master, do you put them near the rear bumper?

Those are catalytic converters. They stay on, you just got mufflers or the entire cat back? If cat back just remove everything from behind the cats as one piece. If it's just the mufflers you will have to cut off the stock cans.

Its just the two mufflers you can get from autozone or oreilly's.
What do you mean just cut off the stock cans?
after the red 1 and 2, its strait pipe to the chrome tip.

after the cats you will see an "h-pipe under the transmission, after the h-pipe you will see a bullet resonator on each side. You install the mufflers behind the resonators around the axle. I would suggest pulling another $100 bill out and taking it to a muffler shop.

I would recomend using a shop or just ordering the axle back, or the cat back system from Flowmaster. It would be a nightmare trying to fit mufflers on these cars without a tube bender. Trust me......I tried to do it myself.

yeah agree on all this..You made the right least expensive choice with FM's 40s. But i would take them to a muffler shop, shoudnt be that much, and you can be assured its done right..good luck!

When you say straight from the cats, you mean there is no h pipe? If not I would put the mufflers on the shelf for now and get the h pipe or an xpipe put back on. You need one or the other and it needs to be put in the stock location.

Right I am taking it to a muffler shop, they quoted me 60 bucks to install the two Flowmasters.
So does a stock v8 come with a muffler. I don't remember seeing one on my car.
Also what size pipe do stock 2010 camaro's have, so I know which flowmaster pipe size to buy.
I'm pretty sure its stock, from the headers its cats, then some other cat i guess, then they go down the center of the car and spread out again to the chrome tips

yes, 2 big ugly ones, you couldn't miss them if your car had them. wise decision taking it to the shop. just make sure the previous owner didn't remove the h pipe.

from the cats the pipes will come together at the rear of the transmission, there should be a small like 2 to 2.5 inch pipe going from one side to the other, looks like an "H"

Shouldn't be too hard. Just look behind the car and if you see a pair of these, you have the stock mufflers.

SFcamaro – A stock V8 Camaro has mufflers just behind the rear bumper like the ones in this image.

If you don’t have these mufflers, they’ve been removed. This is also the area you would typically install the Flowmaster mufflers you’ve already purchased.

This video covers the installation of a complete Flowmaster Pro-Series Axle-Back.
