I can see that. Plus, it's good marketing. After the dust settles and the awe of this lap time wears off a bit, release an even better time for the auto. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Regardless, manual for me.

That will mainly depend on a few things and biggest being how fast the auto can change gears when commanded by the paddle. if it's a slow response time you are dreaming. if it's fast then you will be correct.

now that's about 9 seconds faster then I thought it would be. guess those extra ponies and MR really helped out. lets see what it would run on an endurance race. . . how much heat soak that charger will have.

Aaron Link was the GM test driver of the ZL1 which lapped the ring in 7:41.27.

It appears to be at the inside line photo studio...

"Mark Reuss drove this #ZL1 Camaro prototype to our photo studio. It's still grimy from the 'Ring"
"Yep, this is the #Camaro ZL1 that ran a 7:41 on the Nurburgring in hands of GM test driver Aaron Link". ^ER

^Ain't that the truth.

Seven years ago, that kind of performance cost 150k. But now, a host of cars exceed even the ZL1's times.

40. -- ZL1 here ---

So the ZL1 runs 29 seconds behind a 3 year old 100k Dodge Viper ACR, or 17 seconds behind a new 70k Nissan GT-R.

But please don't confuse my intentions, I say kudos to Chevy for reviving the legendary ZL1 name! The new car is certainly worthy of that designation.
