Has anyone else noticed how slowly it builds up speed after around 100-120mph? I checked ZR1 video for comparison (same engine), the speed numbers would fast forward like there's no tomorrow (120, 124, 129, 135, 142...), but on ZL1 its' 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 125...

Different engines and large weight difference!

Is it worth it? maybe, but why will people buy a CAMARO at that price?. A performance model Camaro has always been a "workin mans" sports car. Please don't take ZL1 out of the loop, or at least then offer a no frills version for those of us that don't need magnetic suspension, or nav.

2. The GT 500. Like it or not, it IS ZL1's competitor. I'll be driving it here, and on the street, possibly the drag strip, not a road course so here, where I am, The GT 500 IS the competitor to which I refer.

3. "Thou shalt" means absolutely nothing to me.
If the ZL1 remains priced decently, 50 to 52k US, and I buy one, I will not leave it stock anyway, so the "thou shalt" really doesn't matter. Any performance car I buy will need to be tweaked.

The other MAJOR problem with pricing is the Canadian pricing rip off we have to endure north of the border. If the price in the US is 55, then in Canada its 5 to 6 k more with no reason at all for the higher price other than living in Canada and getting price screwed.

Then, as if that isn't insult enough, we have to pay any dollar exchange value difference applicable at the time, so even 52 US is potentially 61,000 here before tax.
After tax in B.C. I would be paying another7,320.00, for a total of 68,320.

(sorry..IMHO.)
Mark..
Why don't you just wait for a Z28 that will likely suit your scenarios! As most are saying the GT500 with similar yet inferior Track Pack is mid 50's, so $55 or so for ZL1 is on target.

I didn't have to time to read through all these posts. Has anyone mentioned the fact that this car has no interior? I don't know what the weight advantage/disavantage would be for a car with a cage, but no interior. I wouldn't call this a production car at all. Doesn't the cage make the body more rigid, which improves handling?

Not meaning to discount the amazing time the ZL1 put down, just posing the question I'm sure other brands will have.

You need to compare the same area on the track... It's far from flat. Looks preety good from 1:12 to 1:20
... but yeah... looks kinda sluggish from 160 to 170

The interior is there... Different seats and rollcage for safety.

I dont think so, but I would put money on the new sport cup tires, or something comparable.

I wish there was more of a standard for comparing ring times, but there is no way to do that. Just remember...GM has confirmed that the old Z06 time was done from a standing start

...If pots were pans and ifs were ands, IRS on a road course doesn't trump a solid rear ? ONLY 3 SECONDS? Really? Chevy has a rigid modern design stiff Holden body with chasis improvements, variable ratio springs and MRC etc...how much thought and engineering can F do to try to play catch up? Add HP? F has their work cut out for them with their current body style and outdated suspension to stay in the game to make the body conform to the additional stresses they are trying to place on it with additional HP. The Ring? Really??? Theres no argument IMHO. They are locked into their archaic structure against the behemoth. Just sayin...but, the competition is going to great!

Could be said that the ZL1 needs all the tech (and the extra cost) to overcome it's bloated weight just to keep pace with the GT500.. just sayin'
