Has anyone tried to order the Alpine unit from a local car stereo company/installer? I called a local car stereo company, my plan is to have them install the Alpine touch screen and a new head unit. I don't trust myself to do the work.

The stereo company I called had never heard of the Alpine unit. I even gave them the Alpine part number. They called me back and told me they could not even order the Alpine touch screen from Alpine. I don't know if they order online or call their orders in, but they confirmed that they cannot order the touch screen.

If the Scocshe unit comes out first I will likely order it instead of the Alpine. I did get an email back from Scocshe that their touch screen does have buttons for the heated seats and does display the outside temp. Either one of these would have been a deal breaker for me, glad they have both in their unit. I haven't gotten a response from Alpine if their's had buttons for heated seats and if it displays outside temp.

Is anyone else planning on having their touch screen installed by a car stereo company?

Mike- are you going to have extreme performance install the Alpine unit and a new head unit? Do you know what head unit that will support steering wheel controls and the USB in the center console?

I picked up mine and my 910 today. I was told the run on these kits will be short as they will be changed to go with the new 8" screen dbl din Alpine showed at CES. 910s are hard to come by right now.

Is the Onstar module likely to be the same as one for 2007? I had one installed in my truck in 2007 with a Alpine IVA-W205 and Blackbird Nav. I'm not going to keep the 205 if anyone wants it and the blackbird. But would that module work on a new Alpine head?

Does anyone know if it retaines the HUD functionality.

For example:

1. Will I still see the song title/radio station in the HUD ?
2. Will I see the NAV turn by turn arrows / street names...etc in the HUD when the Alpine navi is working instead of the onstar directions?

In my BMW it showes me the turn by turn in the HUD so I never look at the NAV and I love that feature...will I see the same with this Alpine Unit ?

Anyone know?

Thank you !

I hope they do have the kit for the new head. I'm waiting for the INE Z928HD head. Hope it's ready for release in May. As we know, Alpine isn't always on schedule.
