I like the idea but not the name. Z/36 sounds like it's supposed to be a "higher" trim level than Z/28 simply because the number is bigger (to me at least).

I'm not sure what you call it, but I don't like Z/36. I like the idea however. Camaro ST? (Street and Track)

Camaro ST? (Street and Track)

Actually...S/R... (reverse of RS!)...and yes, "S" stands for Street...

What could that "R" possibly stand for?!

The "Z/36" was simply a "hook" to get you in here...interested...and get some feedback...which is truly appreciated...right Pete?!

They're chassis numbers native to the vin number. Like EG6, AE86, MA70 etc...

I was kind of hoping GM could offer some form of track pack for the LT. Not in the power department per se, but tighter suspension, more fade resistant brakes, a 3.73 wouldn't hurt either. Too bad they didn't produce the Dusk. I really liked that concept.

If it were available from the factory, I think it would draw some orders, as long as the price for the package would not threaten that of the SS. Maybe $2500 or less and I think it would have a good chance for success. This idea has some merit.

Yeah, the ZL327 was overpriced, that's why it never took off. The Package was $3,995 for Axel back exhaust, Blackwing CAI, underdrive pulley, Rear spoiler, and some fancy graphics and badges. Just not worth it.

Gee, kudzu, we certainly didn't mean to offend you, or anyone else. Consider the concept of a "Z/36" as a bargain-priced LFX-engined Z/28, a "handler on a budget", familiar to "Z/28-type" folks...

It didn't seem to belong in the ZL1 discussion...and if it were placed in General, we'd be bogged down with color discussions and T-Top requests...

I have an idea. How about we go back to the LLT engine block apply similar mods to it that the LFX has minus the integrated exhaust manifolds and couple it with an ECM that is easier to tune. Then you can either turbo or supercharge that thing or stay N/A with nitrough and have some stronger parts for higher pressures along with a high pressure fuel pump rated for higher psi than the current one curing the fueling problem which would allow anyone doing FI to bring up the power significantly while keeping weight down to a certain extent. Oh yeah and make sure the A6 model has a fricken limited-slip differential from the factory like the M6 does.

After that everything else people want to do with the car they can go aftermarket and have a solid V6 track car to take on other V6 cars in the world!

If GM built a Camaro with all the best suspension(no MR), tranny, rearend, and braking bits and threw in a V6 and then priced it right... we could replace the engine with whatever we want to.

not sure if I helped out on this or not... I went to the chevrolet web sight and sent them 3 back to back email's. they read something like this.. I have a new idea for the 2013 camaro, can you guys please build your own version of a ford eco-boost engine. it should be a 3.6 twin turbo charged 6 speed car with 350-400 hp, and put the brembo brakes on the v6 models.

IDK if I will get any were with them, but we will see? I also asked them to open 3 Mr, goodwrench shops in the usa that are equal to the shelby shops. that way we could get factory superchargers and much much more from them..

GM would be tuning the suspension for the weight of the V6 they ship it with, the extra ~50 lbs of V8 over the front wheels would throw it off thereby negating the whole point of getting a special handling package from the factory for the car.

Well, that and swapping out a V6 for a V8 would be a royal pain. It would probably be less work to simply throw a few bolt-ons and a suspension kit on an SS and call it a day

So word on the street is that ford will do the ecoboost mustang possibly as soon their 50th 2014. Perhaps a remake of the turbo GT, SVO, or GT350. Wouldn't be nice if we got the Jay leno camaro twin turbo system (Z/36) in 2013 to 1 up the mustang a year before its anniversary. but we all know that wont happen EVER

i think its 50/50 on a chevy response. the mustang basically has 5 models v6 v8 GT500, cobra jet, and a "special model" this year its the Boss before that the Bullet forgot what was b4 that but u get the idea. so i think what chevy should do is compete with the "special model" as soon as possible. doing a TT v6 in 2013 may put chevy ahead of the game for once.

Sounds like it would still lose to the new 2013 Hyundai Genesis which is going to be lighter, more nimble and have a 350hp V6.
