dr colorchip
Just saw a commercial on tv just now for this touch up paint from dr.colorchip.com for your car and was wondering if anyone has heard of it or tried it. I dont have any use for this product since i dont have any chips or scratches, but it just seems like its one of those to good to be true products.

I have 2 very very small chips in the rear 1/4 panel and its kind of hard to tell but it looks like they are down to the metal so I was thinking about getting this too. Expensive yes but if it makes it almost invisable??? Maybe its a good thing. This has to be better than down to the metal and open and exposed....especially since I live in SD.

Why not use the touch up paint from GM? Perfect match, and if you take your time, almost invisible.

Catch me if you can

I have the kit, and it's very simple to use. Once you have the paint on the spot you wipe it, then let it dry for a few minutes. The chemical that is used to clean off the spot is called a blender. I'm guessing it cleans off excess paint and then seals the spot you touched up. I have done my entire bumper and yes if you're a foot away from the car you can tell that there were touch ups done, but once you step away you never see the spots.
I have gone further and I have used my Adam's Polishes method to clay bar, polish and wax the bumper and it looks fantastic. Yes you can still spot the chips if you really look but it looks better than if you had not done it at all. If you buy the kit, I would suggest you get the least exspensive one as it will last a LONG time. Just remember to follow the instructions for storing the kit once you're done. The cap will dry and seal the bottle shut if you don't.

There's another thread on here somewhere, where they ordered Dr. Colorchip and said they would post pics after they used it. But I never saw the photos.

I got some and haven't used it yet. Mainly because whenever I see touch up paint used it has that globbed up look. I'd like to see a DIY thread on how to use the stuff properly.

heres a before and after of dr colorchip on my splash guards. that pic was after one application, it looks better now that i applied a few. Ive used it on rock chips on my hood and got decent results. I know where to look so see the spots still but most people never notice.

I've got some color matched paint from Chevrolet for my IOM 2SS. Sat down, took my time and used a toothpick to 'place' paint in each little stone chip on the car. Then let it dry for a little bit, and wipe excess paint away with a lint free cloth. Then using some Megiuars Scratch X, smooth out the area and then put some wax over the area. I had many chips on my rear gill area and you now can't tell at all where they were. I've had stone chips on the front bumper too, and the nature of them is that a stone 'gouges' the paint out, so you'll never have a smooth bumper without having it refinished, but after touching it up, you can't see any of the undercoat or the black from where the stone has taken all the paint off in a chip. I'm happy with how this works out. Best of all, I got the touch up paint for free from Chevrolet.
