My wife will be thanking you when I get a spare $600.00.

This should be a sticky...

No need to rewire on 2011 2ss/rs, that piece you speak of is not on old seat so must have been phased out. I did have to swap the airbag plug though as my old one had a different locating pin in it and new one didn't go into airbag. Otherwise butter and its installed.

Nice work. As long as the wife is happy that's what's important.

Great Project

I completed installing my power passenger seat this weekend. Your write-up made this task straight forward. If any of you are planning to install in your 2011 2LT I have the wiring harness, cover, switch and knob that I will sell as I ordered two of these items. PM and I'll give you a great price.

OK a couple of questions please.

1. Are the switchs for the seat controls mounted on the outside or inside of the seat?

or

2. Do you modify the existing outside cover to accept the new switches?

The outer cover on the passenger side (you'll need to buy the correct cover- see parts list in the links in original post. P/N 22780755)

IIRC, the existing non-power outer cover doesn't have any clips and such for the new additional seat switch.

My wife has the same problem, but I'm mean and think it's hilarious...

But - I'll probably do it someday...

Question

Someone had mentioned a part list, etc. So I'm a little confused on this whole process.

I have a 2011 with a manual passenger seat. I'd like it to be a power seat. So what exactly do I need to buy and from where?

After I have the items I'm handy and can follow all these instructions, which is great, thanks so much for posting, but you start off the thread not mentioning what hardware/electrical is required to be ordered from GM or wherever.

I'm assuming that this involves using the same existing seat, and just doing the underneath rail/hardware modification, or, does this involve buying a whole new seat as well?

If I was to get a whole seat from the 2012 will it work as in plug and play without having to mess with any wires. I am a little confused, on another site a guy swaped one into his 2011 convert. and said it was a plug and play. Would like to do this mod also.

2011/12 seats and wiring are DIFFERENT than the 2010 from what I understand. This writeup was using the 2SS parts list that Ofer had (see links in post 1) and uses the existing seat back, the lower pads/leather and hardware. It just uses the new lower seat base and harness, and a piece of the old harness for the seat sliding switch for 2010 only.

Yours might be even more simple than this if it's a 2011. I don't know if a 12 seat will work as a plug n play in a 2011. But if you got the whole seat, you're miles ahead.

Can I just replace the seat with a seat from a 2012 Camaro? Will the air bag sensor work? Will the wiring plug in?
