CURB ALERT, should be standard on all cars

Especially on our cars or on cars with low ground clearance.....come on, just how many of you have scraped up the front facia, a LOT of us......I have said it many times that GM should have put the censors on the front insted of the back of our cars. SOOOOO, someone has come up with a small unit to protect the front of our cars from CURB RASH/DAMAGE.
and YES it fits on our cars, they even have a picture if it isntalled on a SS

that is cool, but what is the range from side to side? if you put it in the middle of your bumper and pull into a side spot in a parking lot, will it detect when the right side of the bumper is 12-28" away or just dead on? if just dead on, not sure how effective it will be.

a lot of bumper scrapes come from driving up a steep incline like a driveway when your car already has momentum. be nearly impossible for 28" to be enough warning in those situations.

I'm utterly amazed that GM engineers added this to the rear of the car and not to the front. It falls in with the decision to not make the fuel door a locking release system like so many cars that are so much cheaper than the Camaro.

Rant over.

I've driven lowered cars all my life and never had an issue. How do so many have issues like this?? Mine is lowered with a chin spoiler and I've never had an issue.

GM engineers are paradoxical... They can create such awesome stuff while also making some retarded decisions, lol.

on topic, this is a GREAT idea. I've scraped more times than I care to admit.

Just learn where the extremities of your car are. If you're not sure then stop, get out and look if necessary. It really isn't rocket science.

There's a reason for this:

One person wants a leather owner's manual cover.

Another wants a front camera.

Another wants air conditioned seats.

Another wants standard navigation.

Another wants a locking gas cap door.

Another wants lights on the rear package shelf to accompany the rear back-up monitors..................

..........do you see where I'm going here?

For every person who wants one of the above, there are 10 that do not want it -

The Camaro Team - assisted by our Disciples -- look at the 'wish' list and have to make some hard, fast choices - all while keeping the base price affordable -

Knowing that we have arguments over 25 cents a car, you can imagine the difficulty in making these decisions.......

(...and no, making them 'free-flow' is not an option - for many many reasons...)

So - no matter what we decide, we'll always have someone unhappy that we didn't put - oh -- say - a *insert favorite wish-list feature here* in the new Camaro.........

(...and yes, I'm sure there are cars that cost less than Camaro that have a locking gas door - but do they have everything ELSE that the Camaro has standard - plus 323 ponies under the hood and style that stops traffic???)

Exactly. One can find out pretty much everything about a particular car either on a website, or down at the dealer, so if you really think something stinks....don't buy the bloody thing.
Oh, one thing Scott.......I wish.....for the re-introduction of Aqua blue metallic. J/K

Take 4 tall orange cones out to a deserted parking lot. Learn where the front of your car is

Amen, fbodyfather. You guys made the car. We do not have to buy it. We love the car the way it is so we did buy it. I waited from 10/13/08 until 5/23/09 for mine and I love it just the way that it is. Any one that NEEDS that extranous BS can find it at any toyohondamazdanissan dealer.

I did also on the old car. I renamed the Stillen Spltter I installed after words as a " Anti curb Protection Device" as it would take the hit first.

I've waited 30 years and would have been worth waiting another 10 years. It was WRTH-W8.

the rear sensors, primarily are to prevent you from backing into small children, same as the backup cameras that were added later and if i remember correctly it will be or is a federal law that requires all cars to have backup cams.

personally it would be annoying for me to have to unlock my fuel door every time i filled up. When was the last time people stealing gas from your car was a real problem? How many can even say that happened to them?

You've not been able to steal gas for cars in a long time. Anti-siphon tanks have been in use for 10+ years. It's people putting stuff in your tank is why most people want a locking cap or door.

And plastic tanks allow any idiot with a steel punch to knock a hole in your tank and put a pan underneath it without fear of a spark...If somebody wants something you have, there is NO WAY to keep them from taking it.

When you first get a car, park conservatively. Get out and look after you park every time. If you're too far, pull in a bit more.

In time you will learn how to park without the assistance of technology.

Personally i would rather not have locking gas caps simply because when i had a Sentra that had one of those pop release caps, well it had iced pretty badly and i needed fuel and it was rough to get it open. Had to use a screw driver to pop it.

Now i dont plan on driving the camaro in ice conditions ever but still not worth it.

Truth!

Let me say I'm a long time Ford guy, so was Dad. Never had use for a car, neither did Dad. If it wasn't a pick up truck, I had no use for it. Would have never bet I would ever own a GM product, definitely not a car. When I saw my first Camaro in person, I was pretty much sold, and I did, in fact, completely stop in the middle of the road to watch it pass me!!!!!!!!

Oh, and WOW! 25 cents a car? I don't know how you do it, but I'm sure glad you do!!!!!!!!!
