shorties with muffler delete?

Has anyone ran Shorties with a Muffler Delete and stock cats? Waste of money for the shorties? Sound? Drone? I have a great deal on some DT shorties possibly but already planned on a Muffler Delete....

L99 or LS3?
I had an L99 with DT shorties and muffler delete, still had the resonator in place. It sounded great, no drone or ill effects, other than lack of power compared to long tubes and a good exhaust.
If you plan on stepping up to long tubes, I'd probably wait for them, unless you can get the shorties for a really good price.
Long tubes are all around better for performance (somewhere around 15-20hp over shorties), and are louder as well, if that's what you're after. So unless you have to confine yourself within emissions regulations, I'd wait for LTs.

No plans for LT's because I dont want to void the warranty, with my 2010 I have literally lived at the shop for repairs over the last 5months or so..so to me the Warranty became invaluable.

The SS I ordered is an LS3.. So shorties with Muffler delete wasnt bad? Any ppower gains?

Thats cool. Since mine had the resonator in place, its completely different than an LS3 setup, so I can't accurately comment on the noise.
Shorties will get you a few horsepower. I don't remember off the top what I gained, probably around 5.

shorties have a small change from stock, you would have to pay attention to hear the difference

you need to go with hi-flo cats if you go with shorties to see a power gain. Its the cats that are the problem.

Lose the resonators too. The cats are plenty restrictive and provide more than enough sound attenuation.

This is what I'm running with :
Muffler Delete / Edelbrock X-Pipe / DT Shorty Headers & CAI (from Cold Air Inductions)..

I used to have that combo. I really couldn't tell a difference in performance from the shorties. However, they do look great and you save quite a few pounds from the heavy stock manifolds. It would be a much better bang-for-the-buck to keep the stock manifolds and get HF cat mid-pipes that keep your O2 sensors in the stock location, saving you from having to do a tune and void your warranty.
