Polish removal from black trim

The body shop that painted the front of my Honda got polishing compound all over the black plastic trim below the windshield and it left it looking white. I believe Adam's sells a wax remover product, but is there anything locally available that will remove the residue?

That won't remove it, but might cover it up. To remove it use some All Purpose Cleaner on a toothbrush.

There are dozens of weirder approaches that are claimed to work such as,
Peanut butter
Magic Eraser
White Pencil Eraser

But APC should do you just fine.

Those would be for AFTER he's removed the residue.

Start with APC and a toothbrush. Scrub in circles to get the bristles into the texture and remove the residue. If that doesn't get all of it a white drafting eraser is usually pretty effective as well.

Once you get it removed then dress with the SVRT or In & Out like stieger suggested.

There is a product by black wow, called Pre-wow Pre-Cleaner

I've heard nothing but great things about it, and how well it works on faded or wax covered black trim pieces.

You can pick up a product locally at advance auto or a paint store. It is called Klein strip prep all. It is a wax and grease remover than can be used to strip wax from paint or trim.

I've had good success with the "APC on toothbrush followed by VRT" method. I actually used this on my g/f's Mighty Corolla and it came out good.

Thanks for the tips. The guy at the body shop used diluted purple cleaner on it and covered is upt with a detailer spray. I'll see how this works after the detailer wears off. I'd never heard of the white eraser technique. I have some of them laying around and that's certainly worth a try.
