has anyone put on headers and not got a cel?

I want to invest in some headers, but as most people should understand, i don't want a cel light to come on or get a tune to possible avoid the warranty. Are there options out there? Or am i just out of luck?

Thanks!

Thanks cntryman77. Do you know what a CEL ultimately does?? Does that mean you need to tune your car? Do people just ignore it in regards to long tubes?

basically looking for pros and cons

Thanks again.

doug thorley shortys dont throw a CEL.. atleast i havnt heard any. im either buying doug thorley shortys and not getting a tune, or buying long tubes and doing a tune. keep in mind that there are better gains with the long tubes tho

Yup... you either live with the light or void your powertrain warranty..

A side question on the CEL: does it pop-up immediately, or does it take some drive time to appear - like after 50 miles, 75 miles, 100 miles, etc.?

I'm currently running the SOLO high-flow res-cats, and they were CEL free for the first 10,000 or so miles, but now they trigger the CEL after about 75 or so miles. I've just been resetting with Torque on my Droid. If that's how the CEL works with LTs, maybe I should just go ahead and switch to LTs.

What exactly is causing the CEL? O2 Sensors reading too hot? or too lean?

4 codes are thrown with Long-tubes. One is a cat inefficiency code and another is related to the Rear o2's reading higher than normal output. Can't remeber what the other 2 are, but once you upload a tune optimized for long-tubes, all 4 codes will not pop up again.

My CEL came on after about 250 miles after getting the BBK long tubes installed.

Do you just leave it on or do you clear it? If you clear it, how long before it comes back?
