Just got a 4800 Event Code from Dealer

Almost had an accident here, I was so excited....

Wed 4/8/2009 2:26 PM

"Hello Bruce,

The new event code is 4800. That means it is sitting somewhere waiting to be unloaded on a car-carrier. As information becomes available, I'll pass it on.

Best Wishes,
Steve xxxxxxx"

Holy Cow. Come on 5000. Guess I better make sure the Insurance is ready. Would hate to have that hold things up.

So does anyone know how much actual prep they need to do at the dealership?
It is Black with CGM stripes, but from other threads on here, it sounds like CGM stripes are put on at the factory? I guess that's one less thing the dealer needs to do.

Wow, now I know why Scott gets so excited...

It's different for every car. Sometimes the plastic parts of the under carraige (spell check) need to be assembled, tire pressures adjusted, road test by PDI (pre-delivery inspection) guy, then clean up and delivery. It doesn't take very long to do.

VIN is 1597. This VIN was created right around when the "ship to commerce" stuff came out.
According to UCF_woot and Heinz's data it was around first 550 or first 480 taking Avis out.

Pretty sure the VINs are sequential and those gaps will get almost entirely filled in with the one-per-dealer cars.

Agreed.

I hope others start seeing 4800 then of course 5000 and 6000. Everyone here deserves it and have been incredibly patient. It would be great if in the next week a whole bunch of cars get delivered to the Camaro5 contingent...

I don't want to rain on anyones parade but according to gmglobal connect vin 1597 is still showing a 3800 event code. as of right now.

The only thing I can think of if your dealer misread in event history the code for bayed is 4B00 they might think the B is an 8.

Not raining on my parade. I would rather have the correct event code if that is it. Thank You for whatever method you used to check. I will call the dealer back tomorrow to ensure he sent the correct event code today.
Sounded a little too good to be true...

We have one that shows 3800 event code, but when you do an event history it's at 4B00.It looks like 4800 if you don't look close.I think nol300 is correct IMO.

nice find

VIN # 1597 going before # 74 would be kind of strange

I am #1691 and at 3800 also.....

Anyone else at 4800 (TRM included) should check the "8" and make sure it is not a "B"

seems like someone was saying that they had to go a new program, other than Workbench, to get status numbers after 3800... wonder if thats where 4B00 is coming from.

Shot an email to the dealer this afternoon to confirm/deny that. Haven't heard back...

They have to pull up "Vehicle Event History" instead of simply looking in Workbench.

I don't want it to sound like I was not excited, but the "B' makes a whole lot more sense and the good conscience in me would really rather have Stephanie get hers first, followed closely the same day by trm0002. Then we can all get ours...

You guys definitely deserve them first.

well,

this is part of a letter from my dealer that I got today...

"Let's see if I can answer most of your questions.

Yes, we do get updates beyond 3800, and I have good news for you. Yours has moved to 4000-Available to Ship, then to 4104-Bailment Invoice, then to 4800-Bayed.

What this means is this,,,,, yours has been produced, they have created an Invoice, but not sent the invoice to us yet, and yours is waiting its turn in a big old happy lot full of one or two thousand Camaros to be put onto a Rail Car for shipment to Birmingham, and then trucked to us here in Tuscaloosa. My best guess, based upon the timing I am seeing from other dealers, is that yours will be here sometime the middle of the week of 4/20.

...

We would also like you to attend (with your car) our local activities on the evening of Wednesday May 6th as we join Chevrolet Dealers nationwide in the "Official" unveiling of the Camaro to the world. All dealerships will be joining forces to mark the occaission, even though some lucky owners (like you we hope) will have already received (and be driving) their new Camaros."
