ground effects only in black???

I was just pricing out the Camaro on the chevy site
http://www.chevrolet.com/allnewcamar...build-your-own
And when I select the ground effects package I only see it show up in black. (I had picked victory red for body)

Is that right, or will it also be painted in the color I choose?

if it's only available in black.
I might just skip it and buy a aftermarket one as I'll want to have it painted anyways
(or the other option of getting the whole car in black, lol )

I'm pretty sure it is available only in black right now, but I have been known to be wrong once or twice before in my life.

It's really not even a black but more of a dork grey.

I may have the dealer paint it. I ordered a black car so it can't be too hard to match.

The way the GM rep i talked to said it was primer grey so you can paint them right away if you want to.

Why is everyone against dealer installed options? A lot of the guys that work at the dealerships have been working on Chevy's longer than some people on this site have been alive...

Not sure anyone answered this, but the GFX are definitely only a dealer installed option. I wouldn't let that scare you away though. Just go talk with the dealer and find one that you think you can trust. I am sure they will do fine work.

I'll admit that I'm a skeptic for dealer work only because I haven't been happy with dealers in my area. I know there are great dealers out there, but I haven't found one by me. I used to work at one but I left. What it usually comes down to is $$$. Sometimes these guys will almost cut corners to meet their time quota; sometimes that usually ends in a bad installation and sometimes a good tech' can get it on there just right. It's just hard to trust in a person you don't know. I believe if these were a factory installed option an actual tech' would be doing it, so what's the difference?

The key is, as many have said, is to find a good dealer. I believe that's the best advise

So the ground effects aren't cool lights that run underneath your car? It almost looks like that in the pics with the blue lights on the picture. Of course they don't give you any information about what ground effects entail. If its just some crap on the bottom I don't think their worth it. Especially if they aren't color matched

yea i feel you on this one...i always called the "the crap on the bottom" ground effects and then i was corrected a few years back that ground effects are the light under the car and the "crap on the bottom" is called a body kit....either way im getting them both, but not chevys body kit cuz it only comes in that one color and then you have to pay to get it painted...so your paying almost 3grand...if im gonna pay 3grand im gonna get better looking ones of my choice! same goes with the 5k 21 inch wheels...im getting 22 inch wheels and tires for under 3k...better looking ones too...the ones in my sig

I'm afraid of messing up the ground effects... so I didn't order it. It looks cool, but there are "dips" in the roads in my neighborhood that are outta control. I'd F my car up in one day. The pavement is fresh, and you can already see differential scrape marks all over.

the color is called dark argent metallic. It will come out of the factory/dealer that way once you pay for it. Its not even primered... so it will cost alot to paint it to match ur car. Not worth it imo, since aftermarket will be huge for this car.

I ordered GFX with my IOM 2SS and black hockey stripes. Are the CGM stripes a better match? Using the Camaro Builder, the black seems to be a better match, with CGM looking a lot lighter according to the rendering on the site. I want the best match, but don't want to paint the GFX - it's there to take the rocks and road debris on cr@ppy PA roads!

I read in the Synergy Green thread that the Ground Effects Package can now be painted to your choice of colors, at your expense of course.

Is it metallic? I thought it was just Argent puke gray!!!!!!!!!

IOM by the dealer before installation! Dealer installed!

Only bad thing for me of the dealer installing is the fact that I'll have to wait before I take it home. Now folks, that's going to be a VERY TOUGH thing to do.........Knowing my Machine is within touching distince but not being able to leave with it that day.

Lord I hope the P/B shop can jump right on it! Still though, a must...have to wait for the proper dry time!!!!!

To me it will have to match the IOM of the body color!
No puke gray here!

Bumping this, as I don't want to paint the GFX - I want them to take the rock and stones on what will be a daily driver 2SS for me. That said, which is the best stripe combo to those that have seen both in person - black or CGM? Thx!
