Sorry but I am a little lost as to what you are trying to say. Can you elaborate a little more for my dumb A. Lol.

Basically all your engine parts are bonded to chasis ground via neg of the batery most of the gaskets for heads, manifold, headers,TB, are metallic and help continuation of that good grounding potential. The intake insulator is non metallic and non conctive of electricity so being an electrician I always relly on a good ground. I was just wonderind if an aditional grond wire from the manifold to another bolt on the chasis such as a header bolt or even to a chsis bold would be usefull i am not sure how much or any static electricity occures through the system if any without a good groung. Just my curiosity

Oh ok, I see where you are coming from with this. The original gasket is just plain rubber and not metal material like the header gaskets. Also, mace send you one of those rtv gasket maker but after talking to mace the original recommendation was to use the original gasket but it will require two, one on each side. In my case I have two so I plan to use the original gasket.

So in this case I don't think grounding would be an issue since it use rubber gasket anyway.

Ok i was unsure if it was an aluminum gasket that came installed from factory.

I think I am going to wait and see if my AFR or the fuel trims change before asking vince to whip one up for me. I plan to hit the dyno more then once so let see how much extra a tune will get me. In other vehicles such as LS a tune is only good for about 5-6rwhp in my type of scenario.

Install pics and first impression to come this evening

haha It's already bad enough that I stopped working at my job lol. I never had so much excuse to be in front of a computer

I am probably as excited as you guys or even more but I am somewhat trying to downplay this whole thing and tell myself to not expect anything spectacular at all. It seem when you expect too much you always end up with less so this time I am going to downplay this whole thing and say I am expecting 5hp

Oh my! This does have potential!
And BTW, tighten manifold bolts to 25N-m (18 lb ft) and use a tightening sequence like you're changing your tire- alternate in a diagonal fashion.

Thanks for taking the time bmore!

Oops, just saw you knew that- I got excited by the pics!

I crapped in my pants when I seen that mach. I wish

Well.. it look like the install is going to be finished tomorrow After I got off work around 2:30pm I only had about good 2 1/2 hours to get everything test fit and installed. It got pitch black here right around 5:30pm.

Anyhow, taking out the stock manifold is not that difficult until you get to the 3 bolts all the way in the back of the manifold and under the windshield wiper trim. 1 is part of 6 actual manifold bolts and the other 2, well.. I guess it does not even matter since it will be useless once the insulator is installed and the manifold is raised. There's barely not any room back there so get ready to spend some time and scrape up your hands. Here's a pic of the bolts. The angle only show 2. The vertical standing bolt is the manifold bolt.

After I finished uninstalling the stock manifold the first thing I noticed is bunch of loose dirt right around the inlet holes. If you guys see the same then you might want to carefully take a wet rag and get all of the dirt off and away from the holes. One thing you do not want is those dirt getting inside your head. Here is a pic of what I am talking about.
Name: PB080011.jpg1.jpg

Now this is one of the part that took most of my time. I figured if I can fit 18mm then this means that anything smaller then 18mm won't be a problem. So, I took out my RTV the right stuff gasket maker and put the 6mm and the 12mm together. This is my first time using the gasket maker(I just heard good things about the right stuff)so this is what I ended up with
Name: PB080027.jpg1.jpg
Views: 385
Size: 120.4 KB

The gasket maker said 1 minute..ummm, yhea ok After waiting for it to turn rubber and scraping and cleaning all that sticky crap off the insulator and myself I can already see the sun starting to go down.
Name: PB080026.jpg1.jpg
Views: 381
Size: 113.7 KB

but at the end it came out really well
Name: PB080028.jpg1.jpg
Views: 384
Size: 121.5 KB
Name: PB080029.jpg1.jpg
Views: 376

Well.. after test fitting everything, the 18mm fit without any issues but keep in mind that all of the supporting bolts to help hold the manifold in place will be useless due to the manifold being raised. The holes will not line up anymore unless some of you can come up with some creative ideas. So the only bolts that will hold the manifold in place will be the 6 actual manifold bolts which I think is more then enough. Once you guys see how big and long these manifold bolts are you will understand. Here are some pics

Just when I was ready to reinstall everything back and be on my way under 2hrs, here comes trouble again. You remember the bolts on the back I mentioned earlier? Now try to line up 2 gaskets, one insulator, the manifold itself, while trying to somehow get a 5" new manifold bolt under the wiper trim in the back where is almost impossible for your hand to go in well.. after almost breaking my back and my hands I finally got everything lined up and the bolts and the manifold in place. Now the problem is how in the hell am I suppose to bolt down the rear bolt that I just had a world war 3 with?? well.. this is where it all ended, with one bolt left to screw in. The day got pitch black and it was game over. Time to call it in for the day. I was able to get get the bolt down as far as I can screw it down just using both of my point fingers so tomorrow I will be heading to the tool house and search something small enough that will work. Oh.. and I forgot, the new bolts provided by mace are allen bolts

Well thats just a darn party pooper eh Lol!

It looks sweet though man im glad its coming together and your doing a great job being very meticulous... so you said they were hex head bolts so im guessing you cant you a wrench to wrench them down a bit eh?? if you can do that then try to use a wratchet or whatever you were using to bring er all the way in to torque it.

Just an idea i could be totally wrong :P

Very sweet, can't wait to see how this turns out. So with the increased height of the manifold - do you think the Vararam would still be able to mate up?
