I sorry. :( I'm just here to drool over a new mod. Which if all goes well, I will be buying . Been trying to calm my inner mod buy but I saw this and I can't resist.

So Q: will this put more wear and tear on the engine or will it increase the life of the engine or no change?

it wouldn't increase the life of it, it's simply modifying the airflow. any extra hp made in any form could potentially increase strain put on the motor, but short of jamming air/fuel into it with a s/c or turbo or with the chemical method (n2o), I don't see the engine life being significantly shortened improving the engines ability to breathe on it's own with manifold work, worked heads, cams (maybe shorten the valvetrain if you don't upgrade it all up top), headers..etc.

maybe trying to spin the motor past it's factory rpms without considerable internal balancing would cause it to come apart prematurely in the NA world.

Ah okay thanks. I figured it couldn't be too bad for it since its just increased air. But I figured I would ask.

Man I can't tell you how many times I have done this. I probably have half of Lowes bolt selection throughout my car. When I made my reseat delete I had some bolts laying around in my tool box that fight perfectly for what I needed.

Keep in mind this is not just the insulators we are testing here, but also a thoroughly ported intake manifold....which may be making the majority of the extra power. We just don't know which it is yet and may not know for a while until someone does one or the other independantly.

I know BSR1 ported his IM, but that porting job was different, and we don't have any real results there yet.

I feel like the hard core port job that Jay had done is what most of the power is coming from. I have a hard time believing that the insulators are doing all that much. Now that isn't to say that I'm not going to get them when I get my IM ported.

What was the difference in port jobs? Was one port matched and this one gasket matched?

The first thing that I noticed is that the car feel about 300 lb lighter. No matter what gear you are in you give some throttle and the car just go with no question asked. Even in 6th gear under 2000rpm the car just go. If that ain't torque I don't know what it is.

I have reset the ecm just as mace recommend so for about next 50 miles or so will be easy miles so the ecm can learn the new mods correctly.

And I almost forgot, after driving for about 20 minutes in the traffic I opened up the hood and I was shocked to feel that the manifold was not warm but cool to the touch.

I will give you guys my full review tomorrow when I have more time.

So far it was definitely worth every penny and a very good start to project #2.
Sounds good so far! Looking forward to your dyno results on Tuesday

We know that increasing the runner length will increase torque down low, and we also know that porting will mostly affect hp at higher rpm. So with this in mind I think once I have a dyno graph for everyone to review we can roughly get an idea of what came from what. We also have mace's dyno plot and my previous dyno plots to compare with. Although we won't be able to figure out "exactly" how much was gained from individual part, I believe we can come close enough with the help of very knowledgeable folks here.

Yesterday I had to put easy miles due to resetting the ecm and letting her relearn the new mods, but today I put her through some hard paces and let her have it. All I can say is I am very impressed I remember a while back I mentioned the lag in 3rd gear specifically from 2k-3k rpm wot even after the ported tb. Now with the mods, not only the lag is gone but you punch it right at 2k and you can actually feel the torque kicking in with seat in the pants feel. The highway cruising in 6th gear feel so easy now and it almost remind me of my v8 police interceptor on the highway. It seem the torque kicks in right around 2k rpm and just go from there. The high rpm does not feel flat anymore like it used to and instead it pull very strong to redline. The feel of difference is just undeniable. I can't put it off or downplay it because the extra power just won't let me. Im not going to say that I feel like I gained 40lb of tq down low but the torque is definitely the highlight of these 2 mods combined.

When I was testing the e85 we seen 20rwhp peak on the dyno and I remember exactly how that felt. So if I have to compare hp vs hp these 2 mods combined feel alot stronger then 20rwhp we gained with e85 tuning. I guess we will have to wait and see if my butt dyno is calibrated correctly

Also, in my situation I will definitely have to get everything retuned for the additions. My AFR went from the normal 12.5-12.7 to now 11.6-11.8 on wot. I am almost positive this is from the stage 3 aggressive removal and reshaping of the outlets. I already emailed vince to see what we can come up with as far as tuning for the additions so I will let you guys know once I get a reply from him. The rest of the parameter logging is on hold due to my netbook's battery completely going dead yesterday

2012 is going to be an awesome year for the N/A guys. Not just that, but the ifp guy just returned my email and said that their new tune which is their own engineering and software have seen gains up to 27rwhp on our LLT. He said that he will post up new dyno graphs soon.

Cammed out n/a and supercharged LLT's in 2012 is going to be just insane

If I sit here and tell peoples what is the difference between what bsr did and what high flow did then I would be throwing 1 of them under the bus and I am not that type of person. You are just going to have to compare the 2 yourself. There's a BIG reason why I decided to let darin at high flow do the job for me

We have to find out what Vararam can do for us. I don't want to change it, but depending on the hard numbers I'd have to think about it.
