Arrow 2010 Camaro FACTS

As referenced in a recent thread, I am creating a post that will list what we know as absolute GM confirmed fact about the Camaro. This will serve as a simple tool for new users who want a quick one-stop shop for Camaro details.

GENERAL FACTS:
  • The Pontiac Firebird will not be returning. It's all Camaro all the way from now on
  • Coupe: L x W x H = 186.2 x 79.1 x 53.47 (inches)
  • Coupe: Wheelbase = 112.47 inches
  • It will be available first as a coupe, A convertible version will follow 6-12 months later
  • Key Start (no push-button - possibly an option)
  • Production will begin October '08 in Oshawa, Ontario
  • It will be officially a 2010 model, but the Coupe will be available for purchase in 1st quarter '09
  • "Choice of either a small block V8 or V6 engine"
  • There will be a choice of 6 speed manual or automatic transmissions
  • The engine options will not include LS7 or LS2
  • "The new Camaro Coupe will have a B-pillar. BUT - it isn't noticeable from the outside"
  • Rear quarter windows will be stationary (they will not roll down).
  • The Camaro will feature Strut-type front suspension with double ball joint lower control arms
  • The Camaro will feature a Multi-Link Independent Rear suspension (4 link)
  • The Camaro will NOT be offered (standard) with the 21"/22" Wheels seen on the concept
  • The side mirrors will be slightly larger than those seen on the concept
  • The rear-view mirror will be attached to the windshield, not the roof as seen on the concept
  • There will be 4 seats
  • The Camaro will be Rear wheel drive
  • The door handles will be redesigned to be "more user-friendly"
  • The inverted Mohawk as seen on the concept will remain on the roof of the car
  • The Camaro will have its gas cap located on the side of the rear quarter panel, on the passenger's side
  • The Camaro will feature a 5.1 surround sound system (at least as an option)
  • At least one V8 option will feature a 6 liter 400+ HP engine
  • At least one V6 option will feature a 3.6 liter 300+ HP engine
  • The Camaro will feature Automatic Fuel Management (AFM)
  • An SS version of the new Camaro will be offered.
  • First sight of the production Camaro will make you either (a)wet your pants, (b)bleed from various bodily orifices, or (c)cry like a little girl.

CONFIRMED COLORS:
  • Victory Red

Please feel free to reply with your own additions/corrections and I will add them to this list. Check back often as this post will be updated every time we get a new piece of confirmed information.

Could there be a section with what we suspect (and agree) as extremely likey details?

Has it been confirmed by GM that there will be no LS2 or LS7?

Also, I'm looking through the forum, but I can't seem to find what it said the new size of the production car will be. If anyone remembers what it is, please post the length, width, and height. Plus the wheel diameter and the new side-mirror height.

I noticed another interesting "find" in the recent prototype photo;

Atop the dash, it looks like there may be a separate "pod" for the speedometer and the tachometer, similar to what was on the '69.

Hey everyone. I've been reading for a while, and finally decided to join in and post.

To clarify, I've seen reports that GM has said it will have 2 V6 options and 1 V8 upon launch. Has that been confirmed, or do we still only know it will have at least one V6 and V8?

Thanks for the info everyone. I like having this thread as a central location to list only what has been confirmed.

I was just thinking that when I went home yesterday... Maybe the Gas cap is just underneath the camo? It doesn't look like Camo paint; if you look at the back, you can see it kind of wrinkled, like a tarp fit over the car.

Judging by Scott's teasing , I'm just going to go ahead and believe (keep the faith, right?) that it will stay where it should be. However, it comes off the list.

I read into Scott's post and also got the same feeling that it's staying where it is. There seems to be too much that would lead me to believe it's location was going to change. But, that right there, kind of led me to believe it stays! That's exaclty what I was hoping for!

PS...for those that like to spill things...it's easy...BE CAREFUL. and use one of those things they call a paper towel when you remove the gas pump from your vehicle (they are usually right next to the pump). It's really not that difficult to take care. IMO, that gas cap location rocks!

Yeah, or just keep some of those blue shop towels in your trunk at all times. That way, even if the gas station doesn't have paper towels, or has run out, you're still safe. There's going to be spillage, just wipe it off right away and there won't be a problem. Or, better yet, put the paper towel right below the lid before you take the pump out.

Just make sure you wash the rest of your car regularly as well, otherwise you'll end up with one little spot under the fuel lid that's cleaner than everywhere else.

Ok, I added the dimensions to the list using information from the "Dimensions?" thread. Does anyone know if the difference between the Concept and the Coupe have been confirmed by GM?

Nope. Don't ever recall a differece in anything. So far, it's been "Here's the dimensions on the concept." Then, a while later, they said the roof would be raised something like 14mm (Maybe it was 11 - which isn't much anyway). That was the only thing....oh, and they lengthened the front wheelbase, right? ...to allow for the taller wheels? So, with these two changes, the figures will change. But, I have NEVER seen factual info released from GM on dimensions since the release of the silver coupe concept.

^yeah, there were GM-stated dimension changes...but they were all under an inch so...pretty much trivial I'll see if I can find them, they're floating around the boards somewhere...

EDIT: TAG beat me to it....damn.

Heh, so which is it?

Quote:
Take the coupe specifications and make these changes...
roofline - 12 mm higher
width - 1/2 inch narrower
wheelbase - 50mm longer.

I think this is right.
This a quote I got from Tag in the "Dimensions?" thread.
