Think I am going to change brands of synthetic. Apparently penzzoil is good now..who knew. The brand I have used since I was 15 isn't so good anymore.

Been reading the huge oil thread, and several articles of the fluid tests. Amsoil or redline are good and expensive. Valvoline or pensoils are better than mobile 1.... sad because mobile 1 used to be legit. Again this is all according to the discussions and articles of "independent" testing....if that even exists anymore.

I'd rather spedn the extra dough, and get better oil such as Torco (I use that currently), J.Gibbs, Amsoil, Motul, or Redline. It's tough though, as the better choices listed are double the cost, as the Mobile 1. So, if you drive a lot, oil changes can come up quickly and cost a good deal more when you lok at the annual numbers. However, the added cost is something I'm willing to budget for to run a better oil in my car, as well as a better oil filter.

SPCBA, I don't think I would go with Penzoil!!! I use to build many motors years ago and ALL the motors that had run Penzoil had this dark brown almost tar like residue through out the motor and the lifters were almost impossible to remove!!! Stick with Mobil 1 or Valvoline and your motor will love you!!!

Amsoil and red line are about the same price as Mobil 1

Where are finding Amsoil for that cheap? At Walmart, if you buy a gallon of Mobil 1 it costs $25. If you buy a gallon of Amsoil it costs $40. If I can buy Amsoil for $25 per gallon, I'll buy a shitload. Lol

The prices I listed are in gallons, which makes it cheaper. However, out of the more expensive oil companies I listed, Amasoil was the only one to offer the option of purchasing in gallons instead of by the quart, which drastically dropped the price. Otherwise, Amsoil would have been up in the exact same pricing categories as the others I listed.

The ones we use are all good.change synthetic in 5000 like we all seem to do is good, some tested to go 13000 miles depending on driving conditions. I do worry about things I have read recently about many not having enough protective ingrediants so they dont kill the cats earlier then the EPA wants.I use dexos as its a 2012 which incluses mobil one, penns and some others. But still the wear thing has me concerned a bit,

Never seen it in the gallon size. Quart size amsoil is close to Mobil 1. Around $10

Going to change to Amsoil next time. Is the best for wear and all from what I see from the people "in the know"
