Idiot co-worker decided to scratch up my car...

So im walking to my shiney new 2011 camaro and a bird took a dump on my hood. I mutter some choice words under my breath about the nerve this bird has (lol) and before I even realize whats happening, my coworker whom was cleaning his wheels with a rag, comes over and starts forcefully rubbing the grungy dry rag into the bird crap which is right in the middle of my hood. I was like dude wtf. Now theres some nice, fine scratches circling around what used to be bird crap.

Any preffered product to remove this? The last thing I need to do is have this bozo do it for me and make it worse lol so im going to do it myself. I cant really be too angry since he was trying to help me but when I yelled STOP he was like no, no, its ok its ok! *grinds rag in harder*

Ugh

First, I would have beat him half to death, but that is me, if the scratches are light , you might try Adams polish, but if they are heavier you might have to have them machine buffed

So where did you hide the body after you killed him?

Depending on how deep they are you might be able to help matters by hand polishing, but honestly if he put some deeper ones in you're gonna need a machine.

They are very minor, in a small 1.5" diameter area so I'de like to avoid buying a machine. I'de like something usable by hand. Yeah, im so pissed especially since I told him to stop. People suck. I miss my rusted out F-250 in that regard, you could scratch it and be like whatever at least theres paint and not rust there LOL

nearly impossible to do by hand. i would just consult a local detail professional. he'll probably charge you $50 or so but at least you won't have to buy a $20 product first to find out it won't work without a machine polisher.

The scratches will come out with the Megs 105, by hand and you can get it at AutoZone. Trust me, I'm a professional Detailer. And unless your car is Black? You won't need to go with a finer polish to remove marring.

People always do retarded stuff like that....such as rub one of their hands over the car when it is dusty.

Hey man, if you have a harbor freight near you I have the thing for you. They sell a small polishing/buffing kit for about $15. It comes with a wool pad and two foam pads. I advise against using the wool. Use one foam pad for some super light compound or scratch remover and then the other for a swirl remover/polish. You only need a drill for this. I have this kit and it's saved my sanity quite a few times.

Here's a link to the kit. It's on sale

Electric drills spin at very high speeds. They can and will burn the paint if you are not very careful. You should ALWAYS try the least aggressive method first.

I was referring to a cordless drill with variable speeds. My is two speeds and I run it on high, but it doesn't really turn that fast. I have the 18v ryobi lithium drill

Sounds just like something my dad would do. About five years ago I had to ask him not to fix anything of mine without letting me know first. This was after I found him rubbing some industrial strength rubbing compound on my last car. Someone else appearently smacked it with a pvc pipe, because you could see where it bounced down the side of the car. Once my dad was finished you could really see where the pvc pipe bounced down the side of the car.

To some, cars are just cars. To me it's just a car that I like to keep looking nice, if possible. Rock chips and stuff just happen, but there is no need to run a dirty rag against someone else's car.

I hoped that was what you meant but it was not stated and I didn't want the OP to get any bad ideas.

Truthfully though all he needs is even Ultimate compound that Megs sells. There really is no need for a buffer on light scratches on an isolated spot.

A little elbow grease, knowledge and the right product goes a long, safe way here.

I agree but without seeing it, it's hard to say. This kit has worked awesome for me. I also use it to polish the carbon fiber iPhone cases and other carbon stuff I make.

Some good solid coats of wax would have prevented this. But, Since it was just a rag on some bird droppings i am guessing the swirls are very superficial. Easily removed probably by hand. If not think of investing in a solid Adams PC kit.

My car is a DD with a bit over 12k miles in 10 mos. Adams products are the only thing that has ever touched this car since delivery. I drive it all over the city, drag it and it sits outside in the blazing FL sun all day and is exposed to the elements every night.

Looks better than brand new and just won Best Of Show GM Modified a few weeks ago against about 300+ other cars. People were shocked it's a DD & get's dragged.

Adams works.

I would recommend looking into the Porter Cable PC7424XP, either Adams Severe Swirl & Haze Remover or Swirl & Haze Remover along with the Adams PC pads.

good luck with that approach. i've only known one person to detail by hand and have any success without causing more damage. while it is possible, i'd say in this particular case you should just fork out the $50 for a detailer to touch it up rather than waste $20 on a product you will use once and potentially screw up.

that's definitely not true. wax is so thin, you have no idea how easily the wrong drying cloth will rip right through it and cause marring. it's there to protect from less abrasive contaminants.
