I opted out. Don't think the sueded steerinwheel is attractive...and certainly not worth the $500.00 for less than a yard of material.

I just came back from LA auto show this past weekend and felt on the steering wheel of many cts-v and I wasn't impressed and they looked "dingy" from all the hands touching them so I'm glad I didn't choose that option!

I still don't exactly understand why this option is $500 when the same option on the more expensive, flagship brand Cadillac is $300.

I did and have been thinking really hard whether or not I wanted to keep the suede package but I have decided to get rid of it. My heart jumped yesterday when I heard that some people have moved to 3000, I thought I had more time but I'll be calling my dealer today...

I opted out. I didn't like the look or feel on other cars I've seen it in. Besides, the price was robbery of the highest kind.

Too hard to maintain. As I've said before if I could opt out of the seat inserts to I would. After a few months of white knuckle driving the suede will look terrible not to mention probably leach die on your hands.

I am getting it because I think it will look and feel nice.

If you want a completed poll, for the most part, you can check out this one: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185209

As of now, 56.79% of the 81 people who ordered and took the poll are getting it.

I like the way it would feel as long as the same supplier is used that makes the Corvette wheel and shifter knob. I made a special trip to where I would have been buying a ZL1 if it wasn't for them wanting over list. The salesperson which is a personal friend gladly got the keys to a 100th Anniversary Corvette so I could feel the wheel. (He's not to happy about the over MSRP.) It on my list of options for a ZL1 now. If it was real suede I wouldn't even think about getting it.

i am still on the fence on getting the car,but i would not order the suede.just seems to me ,after a period of time that stuff will start to get nasty looking, especially on the steering wheel.

I like the way the suede felt in the CTS-V and Corvette. Even the Boss 302 has it! I was hoping that it would have been priced the same as the Caddy but the price of the Polished Wheels were lower than expected, so I guess it all works out in the end.

I am getting the exposed carbon for sure.

the other options sun roof, microfiber, and footwell lighting I think I am going to take off my order. Didn't even know what he footweel lighting was at the time of the order. Guy said it was "cool" but It can be added and for less so I am not going to order the car that way.

it seems expensive but if you have ever priced a aftermarket alcantara steering wheel they are a grip. I am not sure if I would like one or not. I have just seen posts on the corvette forum about guys buying just steering wheels for $800.

Many years of Karting at the national level with suede steering wheels has made me order the suede option on my ZL1. It is one of the well known performance enhancers for race drivers that works. Great grip especially with gloves.

I did not order the Micro Suede package however, IF Chevy wisely offers the Carbon Concept package (Hood, Spoiler, Wheels, Carbon interior inserts on doors, IP, and shift knob) with Suede Wheel, boot and shifter, i will go for it. But if I could get all the other Carbon options above without suede, I prefer that.

Alcantara is a brand name of it. They will be very similar in look and feel.

To gblaue, I've had Alcantara too and found that it wears just fine. On my seats, it wore better than the leather. It takes upkeep, but so does leather.

True, but I was referring more to durability. I was once very concerned about this and did plenty of internet research. There have been many complaints of BMW owners over the years having their alcantara replaced prematurely due to durability and wear issues. I haven't read anything about that with GM's version

I agree. From what I've read, and in my own experience, GM's suede holds up very well. Unless you smoke, it will burn quicker than cloth.

I had suede seat inserts in a Trailblazer SS and 1st gen CTS-V and absolutely loved the inserts. Keeps your butt planted on the seat too.

The suede looks good, feels good, and is functional too. Can't beat that.

Edit: I believe the TBSS was Alcantara. I think it's all in how you take care of your suede. If you neglect it will get matted down but think with proper care it will last a long time. I've read the 2nd gen CTS-V guys say they can get their wheel and shift knob replaced for under $400. I know that ain't cheap, but at least we know we can replace it if need be.
