Looking for a solution (European license plate)

Just wondering if anyone else has had the need to mount the long skinny European (Germany) license plate on their cars. I think i figured out the back but i am not sure what to do with the front. I dont want to drill into the bumper and i dont want to block the lower grille. I ordered the Top Flight mount and am hoping that i can modify it. Just wondering what others are doing. Maybe someone else has a better idea. Thanks.

Could you bend the front plate so it's formed to the curve of the front bumper?

Have you tried sticking the plate to one side of the bumper, with strong double sided tape?

Stieger, I will bend the plate if i have to, I just hope i dont get a ticket.

PeeBee, I thought about the 2 sided tape but im not sure how it would hold up at Autobahn speeds

upflying, thanks for the link. It looks good but im not sure how the airflow restriction would affect heating/cooling system. I want to try to avoid that. Anyone have any input on that?

Let me know if you find a good solution for this. I currently drive with out my front LP but would like to attach it as well w/o drilling the bumper.

Are you an American stationed in Germany? Anyway the TÜV has different size license plates. Germany does not allow you to bend the plate. For those that dont know what the TÜV is, its basically the DMV.

While I'm waiting for my Belgian plates, my "temporary" solution was to put on the old UK plates of my Range Rover (very similar in size, with the new EU standards). They were taped on with the same stuff used to put on the Camaro fender badges and are still stuck on after doing 130+ mph. (I swear officer, I didn't mean to go that fast, and only did it for about 15 seconds...)

When I was in Europe, they made 2 liners for American cars. Check

You could maybe put it on the lower grill, but on one side or the other, that way you would leave the middle more open to airflow. Although, having the plate in the way shouldn't cause any ill effects on the cooling or A/C systems, plenty of flow around it and through the upper grill.

I was told I can have a Euro plate in the back but I HAD to have an American one in the front.. Not only that. most of the Camaro's I see around here don't even have a plate in the front, It's not there or in the front windshield.

This is how I did mine, used zip ties and a strip of black poster frame along the bottom of the frame. Love it, better than drilling holes in the bumper!

I am pretty sure you can get "American" style plates as an option such as I have here in the UK. Makes things a lot easier imo.

I had the same problem.
So this is my solution.

Back I have mounted the license plate as usual.
To cover the holes, I have bought a special license plate holder.
As you can see, are the holes unfortunately always still visible. But I think so it it better and I like the chromed license plate holder with the American flag.

In the front I have bent the license plate (so far no problems with the police) and then I have the frameless license plate holder attached with double-sided tape.

My first try to attach the license plate went awry.
And it was very difficult to detach the frameless license plate holder.
So I think there are no problems with fast Autobahn rides.
