20" Aluminum CC Wheels CLEANING HELP!!

Greetings,

I have the 20" aluminum clear coated wheels on my 2010 SS and these wheels have been the hardest I have ever had to clean and keep clean.

Can somebody that knows about these wheels let me in on the secret to cleaning them? I have used no acids or special cleaners because I have always read on this forum that clear coated aluminum is to be treated/cleaned as the vehicle's paint would be.

Please notice the "staining" I have picked up on these wheels and ANY suggestions to safely remove it would be greatly appreciated.

I know I will get the right advice on this forum...thank you in advance!

Happy Thanksgiving as well!

Steve J.

When I've had something similar on my Midnight Silver wheels, a small bit of wax has gotten it off. You could try that.

Try Adams green wheel cleaner it works well for me, these wheels being clearcoated need to be treated the same as paint so you can also try the same type of polish and wax you use on your paint, they are a bit tedious to clean and keep looking good

I cleaned mine really well with soap & water and put a good coat of wax on them. For maintenance I just use the detailing spray I use for the car (Wizard's). This works on the factory clear coated wheels and my Konigs.

hmm this happens to me too and it sucks :( i think if we clay bar the wheels and then wax them that could get most or all the stains out?

if that is on the surface of the clear coat,a cleaner should take it off.
