dealer will install, yes... but you can request that they leave it off.. they have to order one by law, if the state requires it

soooo here in Washington we are required to have a front plate......

sooo how do I display it?? I would prefer not to have it.. but can I get away with it???

RCW 46.16.240
Attachment of plates to vehicles — Violations enumerated.

The vehicle license number plates shall be attached conspicuously at the front and rear of each vehicle for which the same are issued and in such a manner that they can be plainly seen and read at all times. However, if only one license number plate is legally issued for any vehicle such plate shall be conspicuously attached to the rear of such vehicle. Each vehicle license number plate shall be placed or hung in a horizontal position at a distance of not more than four feet from the ground and shall be kept clean so as to be plainly seen and read at all times. In cases where the body construction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this section is impossible, permission to deviate therefrom may be granted by the state patrol. It shall be unlawful to display upon the front or rear of any vehicle, vehicle license number plate or plates other than those furnished by the director for such vehicle or to display upon any vehicle any vehicle license number plate or plates which have been in any manner changed, altered, disfigured or have become illegible. License plate frames may be used on vehicle license number plates only if the frames do not obscure license tabs or identifying letters or numbers on the plates and the plates can be plainly seen and read at all times. It is unlawful to use any holders, frames, or any materials that in any manner change, alter, or make the vehicle license number plates illegible. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle unless there shall be displayed thereon valid vehicle license number plates attached as herein provided.

If you get pulled over stick it in the front windshield and tell them you're waiting on the mount. Displayed is Displayed

I dont know.. but I sent an email to a state trooper friend of mine and he suggested I just tell the cop... "Honey, I will do it as soon as I get home"

he seems to think that will work.. LOL I am not to sure about it.. BUT I do know there is a groupe trying to get WA state to start only issuing 1 plate instead of two...

front plate in my opinion is useless anyway, only one who needs to see it is the cops and everyone you smoke in your new 2010

Illinois pretty much requires that the plate be mounted to the front of the car...

625 ILCS 5/3-413(b) specifies that: "every registration plate shall at all times be securely fastened in a horizontal position to the vehicle for which it is issued so as to prevent the plate from swinging and at a height of not less than 5 inches from the ground, measuring from the bottom of such plate, in a place and position clearly visible and shall be maintained in a condition to be clearly legible, free of any materials that would obstruct the visibility of the plate" 625 ILCS 5/12-610.5 mandates that no glass, plastic or covers can be over the plate.

These regulations make any mounting of the plate inside the vehicle illegal. A plate must be affixed to the front and rear of the car.

God, I just thought of this, this morning when I saw the pics of the first camaro 5 member getting his car. I was like, "Oh no! Texas requires front plates, that will really look awful on the front of these babies!"

6 months till I got cited :(

It was a $10 "fix it ticket"

But when I went to the police station...cop told me it would cost me an extra $19 for him to check it (he walked 2 feet...looked out the window to see if my plates were on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I GOT CHARGED $19 FOR HIM DOING THAT!!!!!!!) Stupid cops!!!

I felt like kicking his ass...but I would have ended up in a jail

I'm hoping Texas isn't as strict as California is. Who knows, though.

Some company makes an aftermarket bracket for Corvettes that goes under the front end that will fold up or flip down. The one I saw was installed off to one side. Looked better than on center.
