How many other areas around the US are having events like this one in Houston?

Your HOUSTON AREA CHEVY DEALERS will conduct a unique caravan event, featuring the highly anticipated 2010 Chevy Camaro. More than 50 brand-new Camaros will parade across Houston, as a prelude to one of the most exciting vehicle launches in recent history.

In the early afternoon of May 7, the Camaro Caravan — under police escort — will depart Sam Houston Race Park. The Camaro Caravan will journey through selected destinations around Houston, targeting iconic destinations.

The Camaro Caravan will end its several hour tour at Minute Maid Park for the Houston Astros vs. Chicago Cubs game. The Camaro Caravan will be greeted by Camaro Club members from around the area and will park on the Avenida de Las Americas, where the Camaros will remain on display for the duration of the game.

As the Camaro Caravan route and additional details are confirmed, your HOUSTON AREA CHEVY DEALERS will provide you with updates, so you, too, can catch a glimpse as Camaro overtakes Houston.

I wonder what the chances are of, um, eating something bad at lunch on May 7th and having to go home from work early that day...hmm, yeah that's it...

Local dealership sent me an email stating they were going to have a Classic Car Show to accompany the 'reveal' of the Camaro.

I have an invite for the 7th and the 9th here in Iowa. Don't know if they will have cars yet, but they are having big parties and car shows planned.

On MAY 6, 2009 Classic Chevrolet will be having a Camaro Unveiling.



The event will be from 4-8 PM

The unveiling is scheduled for 6 PM

There will be a Silent Auction for a Red SS Camaro

Proceeds will go to Christ Haven

There will be a drawing for the car cover to be given away to a customer who has a Camaro on Order

There will be a collection of older Camaros on display from local area clubs

Pepsi Has donated 40 cases of beverages

Hot Dogs

At 8 PM those who want to participate may parade through main street over to Love and War in Grapevine.

Win Kelly Chevrolet, Clarksville, MD is having a media event on the evening of May 6. The local Camaro Club will be there in force. One car from each generation has been selected to be in the showroom with the 2010 model.

Well they better all be lot cars and not sold orders being caravaned unless the sold orderer has taken delivery and driving the car. I would be furious to find out that my sold order was caravaned through Houston without me being behind the wheel.

On a positive note it would be great to be a part of it and actually be there to see it. My girlfriend lives in Houston and has a 2LT on order, so I will see if she can get some pics. No promises. She has to work that day.

My Camaro club meets at Estes Chevrolet (owned by the son of Pete Estes). They are planning an early unveiling before the national date of May 6th (due to the Estes connection, tentatively Monday April 20th pending arrival of the car). They are going to empty the main lot right off the road for all the Camaros they can fit. The New Camaro will be in the main showroom with all the windows covered until they throw open the doors much like they used to do back when. They also have a car with the optional Camaro car cover you can order with your new Camaro on it parked out on the street to generate interest and attract attention.

BTW: I just got a phone call that a transport with a Camaro was at another local dealer today, so it looks like some of them are here now!

I would be furious to find out that my sold order was caravaned through Houston without me being behind the wheel.

Not me. First I would be kind of proud, but more importantly I would see it as a big favour to the dealers. Come on, this is a big event. Let them show off a little. Think about it: The economy is BAD. Isn't it nice to see a little pride and good old fashioned salesman ship, in a great new American / Canadian product that people are DROOLING over?

Not sure what kind of event they can have if they don't have any cars on the floor. My dealer said he's not expecting any cars except "sold" orders and my son's 2SS/RS is the first Camaro they are expecting and his Event Status is 3400 as of last week. Maybe my son's will be built and shipped by May 6th and that will be the car on display then.

Since my son is stationed in Colorado Springs and may not be able to come home right away we have worked a deal where they will get to display his car (locked and a SOLD TO xxxxxx sign in the windshield) until he can get leave approved and come home to pick it up.

So w/o a car to display it'll be a rather boring launch for some dealers. And I've read them the RIOT ACT about letting anyone open the car or even think about starting it or moving it.

I got an invite from my dealer to a special invite only showing of the Camaro on May 6th at noon. At 6pm the same day, they will open it up to the general public, but the invite only is for all the customers who preordered. I'm glad they're doing something a little special for us who have waited for sooooooooo long.

Yep... I feel it coming on now... 50 Camaros 5 blocks from where I work. OMG I'm getting sick!!!!!!!

One of my co-workers mentioned this to me today as well. A local dealership has invited a local 1st Gen Camaro club to bring their cars down on the 29th
of this month and again on the evening of the 5th of May.

If anyone in the greater KC area wants more info, I'll ask him for details tomorrow.
