Provide VIN for Forum posting or membership

So tired of the non Camaro owners posting their no it all comments on a car they don't even own and or have probably never driven. This goes for all the Challenger/Mustang owners that post or troll on the forum just to be a P.I.T.A. Why not make it a requirement to provide VIN or ownership info to be a ble to post?

I've had Camaros all my driving life (over 40 years). Currently own a 1st gen. and sold my 2010 a few months ago. So your saying I'm not qualified to post here?

Yeah, I signed up for info and to ask questions prior to buying. Probably too much trouble to setup the site to validate not only that it's a legit VIN but that it hasn't been recycled etc... and what about couples sharing the Camaro but with different screen names etc... just makes no sense, this is the internet not some elite private club.

There's tools and trolls everywhere. While most of the Mustang/Chally owners that troll here know about as much as cars as their brands commercials tell them, they at least provide some balance in the forums and realizing that the Camaro isn't the only car on the road.

I'm a member now, and I don't (as of this date) own a Camaro. I have in the past, but not currently. I will eventually own a Gen5, but right now the financing is not in the cards for me. I come here for information, answers and camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. And to know EXACTLY what I want and what I don't want when I go place an order.

I contribute based on my general mechanical knowledge of certain things that stay the same no matter what the vehicle. Anything specific to the Gen5 Camaro, I avoid commenting since I don't have one.

So should I remove myself from the membership since I don't have a VIN?

Sounds like a bad idea to me.

Glad that you aren't my grumpy neighbor.

This is not a "members" of club forum...it is a Camaro fan forum. As already posted...a lot of eventual Camaro owners came here first for reseach and info prior to buying. Like most things is life, there will always be a select few that can't stand people expressing joy and happiness over anything

I was a member before I owned my car to ask questions and gain knowledge. I see posts all the time from actual 5th Gen owners who unintentionally give incorrect info......so I guess we should ban them all??

I've seen plenty of people who own Camaros that know a lot less about their car than I do, as a non-owner.

This site was created before the car even came out. It is not an owners club, it is an enthusiasts site. There never has, and never will be a rule that says you have to own a 5th gen in order to post here. I, like thousands of others, signed up here before the car was even in production. Thousands more have signed up before they placed an order, some of which were probably convinced to buy the car because of their participation on the site. Some of us are waiting for a ZL1 or a Z28. Others are just waiting until they have the cash to get the car they want. And when you add up all such people ... they vastly outnumber the small number of trolls we have on the site.
