Also, how wide is that Nathan, at first glance it seems a little restrictive as the filter element seems like it would have almost no gap between it and the back of the intake, but maybe its just that big that there is more space in there to flow, even if it is a thin gap. As well as probably being a huge filter if I am just not getting the scale right in my head seeing it off the car.
+1 for the matte carbon fiber - or maybe even a satin finish?

Looks awesome, was it a private seller or an online store? Still want them, but not ready to drop $750 on them.

It was Katech themselves, they had some valve covers brand new never put on a car that had a hole for the coil relocation that was not right. Got them half off! I already did my own relocation so I did not need their bracket.

Dude, where did your fuse box go? I want to do this, but have not go all the details figured out yet. Probably going to do this over the winter when the weather outside sucks.

i took pics and was gonna do a write up . but left my camera on the ground and my husky picked it up and took it off i still havent found the camera. its a decent job tho to move it . i put mine in the cabin filter box in the cowl. just have to extend the wires without taking out the engine . some say u can do it without extending with engine in . but i worked 8 hours and couldnt get in even close so i extended about 30 wires around 15 inches.

another awesome looking engine bay. relocating the fuse box really cleans up the engine bay alot.

GOOD WORK FELLOW ADDICTS!

My apologies for not keeping you guys updated very much lately. We've been very busy, both taking summer classes and sending out our applications this fall. we did get quite a bit done this weekend though. Seth has joined the crew and has been a huge help. Nathan and I have been passing all the grunt work down to him, LOL. he has been hard at work scotch briting the whole undercarriage to prep it for paint. We also worked together removing alot of metal in the trunk area to make room for the dry sump tank and the battery. no pictures on that right now, will come later.

Nathan and I have been working on getting the engine bay finished as far as cutting and welding goes. We had to cut into the core support to make room for the X-Air intake.

We cut out this piece of steel from sheet metal to box in the core support.

Name: 2.jpg
Views: 1066
Size: 96.6 KB

welded it in... this is an in progress pic of the filler piece just tacked in. we welded all the way around but didn't get a pic.

Name: 3.jpg
Views: 1061
Size: 83.9 KB

grinded and smoothed the welds.

Name: 4.jpg
Views: 1069
Size: 115.5 KB

Here are a few pics of how the intake will sit right under the core support.

Name: 5.jpg
Views: 1072
Size: 113.7 KB

Name: 6.jpg
Views: 1042
Size: 102.7 KB

The filter will be right behind the grill.

Name: 7.jpg
Views: 1055
Size: 89.8 KB

We have also been working on the firewall. Here's the cardboard template. Both sides are symmetrical so both firewall panels will be the same.

Name: 10.jpg
Views: 1078
Size: 115.5 KB

Work ahead of us consists of cutting the steel firewall panel, welding it to the firewall, on both sides, grinding and smoothing the welds and skim coating for a completely flat look on the firewall. Stay tuned for more updates on engine bay progress....

Great work on the new intake. Are you going to run it with a MAF or convert over to speed density mode?

Hmmm, is modifying the frame going to be required to make this intake work? Any ways around it I mean?

There is probably a way to get this intake to work without cutting into the core support (no guarantees). You definitely wouldn't be able to use it with the stock radiator though, since the filler cap is in the way. the VR has provisions for it, this one does not. This intake is meant for for the VE commodore, not a camaro, so using this intake WILL require modifications one way or another. It would bolt right on to a g8 though. I would like to see that.

Spec sorry for the delay response, I have been extremely busy with not to much time to get on here. The silcone 90 I got from a company that specializes in just silicone tubing. I would have to go through all my reciept to find who they are.

The clamp are constant tension clamps. The are extremely expensive as the are like $19 each

Awesome guys! I will update the TEAM pics .

Just got a new set of coils that would look great with both of your set ups! These are MSD new redesigned LS3 coils. Hopefully any problems that I have read from their 1st gen have been resolved. We will give them a shot and let you guys know.

I just want to applaud to you guys what awesome work you guys did to you're engine bays... GM sure did give the Camaro some ugly engines stock, guess that's the con for having so much space left over.. small block wise
