Unfortunately I am in the same boat with you, going around in circles and not getting anywhere.

I wonder if some dealers now realize that they could get over MSRP + ADP on their allocated ZL1s & are jerking buyers around in the hope that they'll drop their order & go elsewhere.

I may change to the standard insert. Then, I may have Killer Paint custom paint it with True Flames.....I had a few things painted for me and friends.

Well my dealer hasn't contacted me yet on the constrain for the insert which I did include in my order but being in Canada, I wouldn't doubt that our orders will have a later production date than the US ones anyways seeing as how there is 3 feet of snow on the ground....lol. But if it is brought up, yes I will be waiting for the exposed hood.

I would prefer to wait as the exterior color, stripe and polished wheels were based off of the ECF weave. Is waiting really an option?

I want the Carbon Fiber Insert; it is one of the signatures that set this car apart, it’s up there with the ZL1 badge and signature sound.

Why wait... just order w/o stripe and swap in the CF insert w/ gray stripe later...

I actually prefer to wait, but I might not have a choice as I made a spur of the moment decision on Saturday. Trying to see if my dealer can delay the order.

Basically he convinced me to proceed with my order and later get the insert when it is available as a service part. He's going to only charge me what the upgrade cost is, $600, so I thought that was very fair. Now, I'm starting to question my decision and am wanting to go with my original plan of waiting for the second, and last, 2012 allocation for the dealership. Even though there are no guarantees that by the time that order gets pulled the B92 constraint will be resolved, I'd like to take my chances. Getting it factory delivered and on the build sheet is important to me, plus I'm in no rush to have my vehicle delivered in late Winter/early Spring.
And as I was typing up this post, I received a call from my sales manager. He was able to preference his stock order ahead of mine so I'm going to wait for his second allocation. I'm happy about that since I now avoid a delivery that may be during the tail end of a Chicago winter for a vehicle configured not exactly how I want. Worst case scenario is that the second allocation gets pulled later and the B92 constraint issue still isn't resolved and/or that the order gets pull very late in June and I have to wait for a late summer delivery. I'll take my chances.

Shurenuff, Just so I get it straight.
You did delete the B92 from your order? Then hopefully the B92 will come off of constraint before your dealer's 2nd allocation (your car) gets picked up. Right?

Yup, exactly.

In retrospect I should have just kept it on my order but instead made an impulsive decision on Saturday to remove it in order to proceed with my order. It's doubtful that it can be added back now, so I'm hoping that by the time the order gets picked up, the constraint is lifted and B92 can be added again.

Thanks!

And best of luck to those that will have their orders delivered early! Those of us who decided to wait or are still waiting on an allocation will get to live vicariously through your experiences! I'm looking forward to that almost as much as I would if I was in your shoes!

Holds up hand, yes waiting for my carbon fiber hood also. As I mentioned
in another post, my dealer called me and said I could get my ZL1 into production for the first round. I decided to have a wait and see attitude. I'll keep my fingers crossed and see what developes .

I think I am waiting 4 weeks max. If pricing for the insert was out I might not wait. It is just the whole not knowing how much the carbon insert will set me back at a later date that has me on the fence.

if they don't have it sorted out in 4 weeks I am changing the options.

My dealer told me to wait, so I am waiting. Must trust the dealer as he is my only avenue into greatness. Must trust the dealer because he told me to trust him, AS I SIT AT 2030 FOR OVER A MONTH! Phew feel better.

There is CF wrap out there now that would fool the best of 'em. Not the same thing but it would be a simple and inexpensive "next best thing".

Oh I'm sure there will be loads of aftermarket options in a year or so that will make most people completely forget about the OEM insert.

All of the inserts are made of Carbon Fiber. The standard one is painted, B92 is exposed clear coated carbon fiber. Either way, its still a carbon fiber insert!
