Painted Rally Stripes - Cost Estimates? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I know there are quite a few people that are going with painted rally stripes instead of the factory options. If you are getting them painted by the dealer or done elsewhere, what kind of price ranges are your cost estimates coming in at and are you getting just the stripes clear coated or the entire hood and trunk?

I'm torn between getting the factory option or getting them painted and am trying to figure out how much more I'm likely going to pay to get them painted.

Won't give me an exact quote until I get the car and they see how hard it is to make them straight on the hood but I'm looking at at least $1,500 and no more then $2,000. They are clearing the whole hood/trunk lid so you can't feel edge.

I was thinking around $800... I guess the vinyls will have to do

A good set of painted stripes really isn't as cheap as what people think they are. Unless you go Maico or are friends with the owner you will be hard pressed to get them done for $800.

I was thinking $1000-$1500 would be reasonable. The factory stickers are $470 but I really want mine to wrap the rear spoiler and drop about 3" down the rear of the trunk lid so I'd need to spring for a second set of rear stickers to get the look I want. I'm good with the look of the front stripes and would probably have my front stripes painted the same way.

If I get them painted, I haven't quite decided yet if I want a metallic white or pearl white or black granite metallic (think '09 Malibu black). I've finally decided that Victory Red is the right color for me so now I've got to pick stripe colors.

interesting. that does seem like a lot. But I agree with your tastes rolnslo. The stripes should have gone further, and down over the back of the care. Almost incomplete.

yea i want either a pearly white metallic or something like black granite metallic...maybe even a silver metallic...im getting abm which is metallic so i dont want flat colored stripes...

1200 - 1500 for me
Paint shop is removing front end, hood, rear deck lid and spoiler and painting each entire piece.

My dealer's paint dept. says $1200 with clear coat. I'm going with the heavy stripe and pin stripe around the outside.

I have contacted a custom car painter in my area by email

and He said The Bumble bee style stripes will cost around 900-1000

IOM with white Bumble bee stripes

Getting the same thing done at about the exact same price.
Having it done at the dealer on the original invoice. I'm probably paying a premium, but when I pick it up its done.

Finally heard back from the body shop manager at the dealership I ordered from...

$1616 total including tax ($500 for supplies, $932 for paint labor [22.2hrs], & $143 for R&I [3.4hrs], for factory style hood rally stripes, factory style trunk rally stripes, complete wrapover rally stripes on the spoiler (ala Bumblebee) plus color sand and buff.

Total includes removal and re-install of hood, trunk and spoiler and clear over the stripe area only. It's another $168 if I want them to re-clear the entire hood, trunk, and spoiler.

He really tried to discourage me from going the painted route because it's not OE (vinyl) but he's more than willing to take on the task and do what I asked.

Now I just need to get my Camaro made and delivered...and figure out if I want a 1st gen style rear spoiler instead of the SS/RS style...then I'll get stripes painted on.

My dealer gave me a break because Ibought the car there. For $400-$600 they will paint my gloss black Rally Stripes. They will scuff the hood and trunk lid, spray the stripes, clear the entire hood and trunk, then wetsand and buff. I cant wait, I just need the car to get here already!

Just got a price of 800.00 to paint the black rally stripes on my SIM...I am having them done the same way as stock but i am getting them to go all the way aroung the spolier.

Mine will be 2,500 - 3,000 for stripes and some other detialling.

But Ghost Stripes in Tri color pearl paint.

Also; This is a national site so dont forget to chk the sigs for where in the usa every one is from. Rates are diffrent in diffrent states or even city's.

All good mods come in time.

They are clearing the whole hood/trunk lid so you can't feel edge.
