Ah, the ol turd gen camaro.

Glad I wasn't old enough to drive when these buckets of junk were on the road. It might have unneccesarily killed my love of American muscle before it could get started.

To each their own, I personally loved the 3rd gen F bodys...they weren't anything fast and didn't hold together long but were an icon of the 80s

As someone who owned an 82, 84, and 89 Camaro, I would have to differ with some of you younger fellas opinions. For that time, those cars were very stylish and turned a few heads. My 89 IROC-Z with the 5.7 and T-tops got me lots of action.

Not sure I would call them buckets of junk or you can say that about allot of cars from the 80's ? My second favorite car from my 84 T/A was my 87 Turbo Shelby Charger and if I could find another one cheap and not ragged out I would buy it as a second car.

I agree. The earlier 2nd gen Z28 with the split front bumper are the best looking IMO.

The ones from the later 70s not so much.

When I was 16 in 1989, an electric blue IROC Z would have been my dream car. So yeah, at the time, the 3rd gens were a bad ass ride.

I was 24 in 1989 and traded in my 1984 Z-28 for an electric blue IROC-Z with the 5.7 and T-tops. Out of the dozen or so cars that I have owned, that was by far my favorite, until now of course.

I suppose we have the benefit of hindsight now. I'm 48 now and remember when platform shoes, flared trousers, droopy moustaches, and of course the legendary mullet were hip and trendy. At the time I guess each gen was as exciting as our 5ths, but I do think the overhangs, and diddy wheels look a bit weak on the mid gen models

Haha jkjk, I love the '77 Cobra.

I don't particularly care for the 3rd gen camaro body style but it's still a fellow camaro and I'll still give it a wave on the road.

Dude lets not be hatin. If you dont like the 3rd gens, fine, but dont go insulting them right on the 3RD GEN PAGE. Just sayin! I dont get what youre talkin about though, i love every generation of camaro! How in the world could someone NOT think these are damn sexy cars!? Me no understando.

And Wheelman, considering you posted a not-so-passive, kinda-sorta-aggressive comment first, in the 3rd gen section, condemning all 3rd gens as "buckets of junk", you kinda brought it on yourself bro.

I remember having a few of the 87/88 sales brochures when i was a kid. Pinned em up on my wall.

I don't see what the hate is for regarding 3rd Gens. Mine have always been pretty reliable, fun to drive. Some rattles here and there but certainly nothing outrageous.

gotta love thirdgen.org they have a lot of good stuff on that site.

ive always liked the 3rd gen camaros and firebirds. in stock form they are pretty fussy in terms of reliability. I rebuilt mine with a new 305 and overhauled the tpi added some go fast parts, still running the stock tune unfortunately but hell hasnt left me stranded yet and it even ran a 14.8 at the track, not bad for an untuned modified motor, crappy street tires and an inexperienced driver.

The IROC looks a little light up front. Swap in the works????

Nice looking rides.

That is not an 89 IROC. Unless you swapped to the 90-92 gfx. I see the TA has IROC wheels and the camaro has RS wheels.

What's up with hood on the camaro? Is it missing the inserts or is it an early Z28 hood with the depressions?

Why aren't the headlight buckets black? Does it have fog lights?

89 IROC:

You spot all the differences. I have a thing for blue too! Nice looking 3rd gens none the less!!
