Thanks for the comprehensive list! I am going to see where I stand to order by this summer. I'm still a detailing newbie, so I may have some questions for you, but I can't drive around with trashed paint much longer.

Haven't used any of their compounds or polishes but they have very good detail spray, shampoos, and waxes. Jury is still out on the Jetseal but it's good so far. Some of their towels are pretty nice too. Just like any company, some of their products work very well while others not so well.

So I've been through your list about... 800 times just reading and looking at your suggestions. But I had a question.

In August, I will be moving to Wichita Falls to attend Midwester state and for the first time in 2 years of ownership, my car will be sitting outside. My paint is swirled, and far from perfect, but when things start getting dusty I don't want to start doing serious damage.

What is a good wax or sealant that is DURABLE? And I mean seriously durable.

Whatever you can suggest would help!

Thanks!

Listen to CD - if you want to get a flawless finish and SUPER durable, it's a simple 3 step process:
1. clay as you have above
2. Use a random orbital with a white pad and meguire's 205 Ultra finishing polish. ( If really swirled, Meg's 105 first with a orange pad)
3. Two coats of Collinite 845, 12 hours apart - the most durable sealant I know of.

Also, I need something for my dash. I have no idea why, but my dash is tacky to the touch and holds lint and dust like crazy. It never looks clean. What is wrong and what should I do?

I have been saving to buy a polisher and polishes this summer. It will probably be late summer because of classes, but I will definitely look into that collinite!

thee are many dash products - I like one that gets the dash clean looking, but does not gloss or look oily - it just looks NEW. Since your leather is not really leather, and is plastic encapsulated, the whole interior can be done with this too.

Nobody mentioned actually CLEANING the dash...

The solution to tacky/sticky is not throw more dressing on it. Idk what cleaners you have available, but something like diluted APC (10:1 or so depending on the APC) or a dedicated interior cleaner product should be used first.

Then apply an interior dressing. The one Glen suggested or one from my thread.

Is it normal? It has never been dressed or anything. I usually just wipe it down with a wet cloth but recently it doesn't come clean.
I never dressed it because I was afraid of losing that new look. And my car even SMELLS new and I didn't want a grape banana piņa colada nonsense smell going on my dash.

I will try to pick up a better all purpose cleaner. I will check the thread for what you use.

Glen, I will check out that dressing!

I'd bet it has been dressed at some point, probably during dealer prep. Even if it hasn't something obviously has gotten onto it.

Nothing I recommend for interior has a scent. You're fine.

To save you some time: GTechniq W2 (10:1) wipedown to clean, followed by Werkstat Satin Prot or Ultima Interior Guard+ would be my recc.

The time has come. I was able to procure a PC and some adams products. I have the
Sever Swirl Remover with green pad
Swirl and Haze Remover with orange pad
Fine Machine Polish
Machine Super Sealant with black pad

I just had one question before I tackle the job this weekend. How do I know what stage to start with? Is it best to just start from the beginning with the Severe Swirl remover? My car has never been polished, so I figured that would be the best place to start.

Thanks for the input on this thread for the last 2 years. CamaroDreams, I wish you still lived in Dallas!

Do you have a white pad for light cut?

You always start with the least aggressive method. No sense in taking off more clear/working harder than you have to.

In this case, you'd start with FMP and a white pad. If that doesn't get it, step up to SHR and an orange pad, then finish with FMP and white.

Also, I am a fan of that werkstat! Unfortunately, I forgot the bottle in Dallas when I moved to school. Don't want to forget that when I go home! lol
