Wheel weights on my Camaro's calipers

Also as reported on Frontpage Blog

Anybody know what the deal is on the stack of wheel weights on both front calipers on the 2010 with brembo's? I will try to attach a picture.

UPDATE:

OFFICIAL ANSWER FROM JOHN FITZPATRICK:

Some early Camaro customers noticed that there are weights on the Camaro SS calipers. With high-performance vehicles like the Camaro SS, minor brake noise is not uncommon. The weights act as a damper to reduce noise in certain driving conditions. This was done after careful evaluation and validation by our engineering team. These weights will only be added to early builds of the Camaro SS.

Interesting way to increase unsprung weight.

Uh, other than a playful assembly line worker, I can't think of a thing.

Yea, on both sides. I don't recall ever seeing anything like this. Lots of weights on the wheel as well. No problem to 100 mph, and braking very shortly after that.

Hmmm............man, I'm glad they have my car somewhere else looking it over again so I don't end up with weights on my calipers.

I bet it's the way they calibrate the handling of the car. It must have a perfect 50/50 weight distribution...

LOL!

Sounds to me like they have a new guy on the line, and he doesn't know where wheel weights go. This is comforting.

Those are special edition tuned Brembos, which is a rare factory option. You are so lucky

omg wtf, i honestly believe that some half english speaking person on the line was told to put weights on the wheels and misinterpreted...

I hope im wrong on this but damn thats weird, I just can't image why the hell else they would be there.

Edit: OR! maybe that's part of the assembly process and the weights are attached to the brembos and then sent down to the next station where they are removed and placed on the wheel for balancing but some how this car got missed............dude you got me this **** is wierd as ****...

Uhhhhh, yeah...... I guess that one slipped past the QA inspection.

I believe I would be making a phone call or two on that one and ask if they are supposed to be there or why they might have put them there. If nobody can come up with an answer, I would just remove them.

Maybe Number 3, Fbodfather, Davis, and Richard can check their front Brembo's.

I'm on the way to the dealer to let them use it for the week and I'll be sure to ask, not that they'll know but I'll ask anyway. Raining here all week so no big deal.
