2013 Revised Hyundai Genesis Coupe

I will admit, I liked the new look of the genesis coupe when it first came to the shores couple years ago, but it still was not enough to have one on my driveway. The word "hyundai" just don't sit right with me somewhere, buuuuuuuutttt......... I think the new 2013 is worthy enough to consider, and YES, I am seriously thinking about stopping my plans either to N/A or FI and just enjoy my camaro for these next few months until it's paid off completely then make a move on the new 2013 2.0 turbo with 8 spd.

For the 2013, hyundai gave the new coupe a series of upgrades from the 8 spd ZF tuned auto box, to new interior and exterior bits, but most importantly, the 4 cy got the new twin scroll turbo with 271hp and 275tq, and the 6 cy n/a got the new 350hp and 295tq, both direct injected with curb weight of only about 3300lb. and can't forget about the RMR V8 version and the rumored 3.8L supercharged factory V6.

I think the turbo version is going to be an awesome base car to start a nice transformation, and the price even with the brembo's fall under 25k. I still haven't made up my mind yet but I can definitely see one coming home.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We already know that the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will make its debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January, but now, details about what's behind that newly sculpted, Veloster-inspired front fascia have finally surfaced.

According to Car and Driver, the four- and six-cylinder engines found under the coupe's newly designed hood are coming in for significant upgrades. The 3.8-liter Lambda V6 now uses direct-injection technology (just like in the updated 2012 Genesis sedan), but instead of matching the four-door's 333 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque, Hyundai has further massaged this engine to the tune of 345 hp and 295 lb-ft of twist. That means the Korean coupe will put down more horsepower than many of its American and Japanese six-cylinder rivals, specifically the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Nissan 370Z.

There's good news for turbo-four enthusiasts, as well. Hyundai's 2.0-liter inline-four receives a new twin-scroll turbo unit and an upgraded intercooler, meaning there's now 271 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque on tap. Both the four- and six-cylinder engines are now available with eight-speed automatic transmissions, but those who prefer to row their own gears will almost certainly still be able to opt for a six-speed manual gearbox with either engine. Check out Car and Driver for more details and sit tight for the 2013 Genesis Coupe's official debut at January's Detroit Auto Show.2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe to get 350-hp V6, 275-hp turbo four originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 14 Nov 2011 08:55:00 EST. If you like this type of car, this is a very impressive entry by Hyundai.

I don't like this type of car.

I bought a Hyundia back in 2005, and even though I did not like the body lines, I could not say nothing bad about the car. It was a XG350 with a 3.5L V6 and 6 speed auto. It was very comfortable car and got pretty good gas milage. If Hyundia steps into the car market with these I may have to go back.

Oh BTW we only had one problem the 5yrs we had the car, The AC quit and no questions asked they fixed it asap.

Well.. all my fun cars in the past 15 years has been 4 cylinder turbos, from 1.8T to STi's So I guess you could say that I will always have a soft spot for little 4 banger turbos. The 271hp/275tq twin scroll blower in a low 3 grand car just seem like an awesome base to start with. The 8 spd and the great look of the 2013 just seem like an icing on the cake and I'm not even an auto guy. I need to drive a manual but I don't mind trying out the 8spd. Maybe a test drive when it hit the dealers might ease my decision.

I can't believe that I am actually leaning towards this, and to make it even crazy, I just got my camaro in february. At least my car will be paid off soon so I can make an official decision then. Got my eyes on the new ST too.

We have a 2012 in here now getting a super chiller conversion etc. Awesome cars....where they struck out with the Tiburon, they hit a home run w/the Genesis coupe.

Tracy, you are definitely the turbo godfather LOL. I wonder if the new genesis are going to go through the same direct injection drama as our camaro.

My father-in-law has one and its ok. It rides very bupy but has a better exhaust note than my Camaro 2LT. With the Genesis 3.8-liter V-6 bumping the power from 283 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque to 345 horsepower and 295 pound-feet the Genesis should devour the 2013 V6 Camaro at 325-330 horsepower and Ford Mustang at 305 horsepower. I believe the Genesis is lighter so with more horsepower it should be very fast.

May be time for me to upgrade to the 2SS RS soon.

Meh. It looks more manly in the front than the old one, but now it reminds me of a animal with its nostrils flared lol.

I would rather have this

This car has got me interested. Can't wait to see one in person and get behind the wheel. This will NOT be a replacement for my Camaro.

If you hadn't bought your Camaro yet, and given your predispositions to that kind of car...I can see this being an issue...

I can't imagine replacing a Camaro with that, though....:(

I'm sorry but that is atrocious. There's so many things going on in the front end that it makes me think of this...

Look into the BRZ.

I have to agree, the current generation coupe has a more simpler look, and I do think the new face lift on the 2013 look a little busy, but I'm sure there will be alot of aftermarket body kit builders who will probably think the same. I don't think is hideous enough to overlook though.

The BRZ seem cool.. but I think is too miata like for me and not enough power for my taste. I been keeping my eyes on the new ford ST though just not too sure if I can handle the 5 door hatch lol. They been making lots of noise in europe for years. I wonder what made ford finally decide to make the name ST production in the states.

The good thing is that I haven't made up my mind on anything as of yet. I might even decide to look towards a V8, or I might just decide to keep my camaro and continue with my plans. Whatever I decide, I really doubt trading in my V6 camaro would be downgrading. Is not like I am trading in my ZL1 to get a genesis coupe, LOL.

Since when did sales numbers mean a thing? They don't. The first year, a limited supply was released. Obviously it's not the most popular car, but it does have it's own fan base, just like every other car. If you don't like it, don't get it. Simple. No need to bash it or say anything negative about it. Like it? Buy it if you want.

I know I will personally be looking into getting a 4 cyc one when I move back home. You can't beat a 271 horsepower car for a decent price and get decent gas mileage. Not to mention, after some bolt ons and a tune, it will have a nice gain in power. It will be a good DD car.

Looks like the new FT-86 cars (Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86).
I think I prefer the Genesis Coupe compared to the FT-86 though.

It's a low number. But hyundai is a low-volume player at the moment in the US market...so relatively speaking...I imagine they're selling about as successfully for the company as Challengers are.

If it's too survive in the market? It means everything. But that "minimum" number varies from company to company.

Not going to push the issue, I just wanted to answer your question.
