I know I didn't make a new years resolution but... I actually started my diet about 4 weeks ago and have lost 18 lbs since.
Starting to get harder to stick with it as I've started to crave sweets this week.

Okay I need some help from my nutritionistas. It seems highly likely that I may be gluten intollerant. :( I really hope not because I love my bread, but both of my sisters ahve been diagnosed and one of their daughters. One of my nephews suspects he may be also and review of symptoms reveals a high liklihood my mother was. I have tried going off & back on gluten a couple of times & that also lends some validity to the theory. It could explain a lot of issues I have had over the last several years including anemia, irritable bowel syndrone and problems with my skin just to name a few. I am worried since this is a very difficult diet to manage since gluten in in so much of the food we eat. I have started learning about it from searches on the web, but any wisdom or guidance anyone could offer would be appreciated.

How does everyone stay so motivated, I have the hardest time with motivation and sticking to a workout or even starting up again once i fall off it. When i use to play soccer for my university 4 years ago i was in the best shape of my life and back then i was motivated by getting yelled at and the pressure of not playing. But now that it is all behind me i have such a hard time finding motivation :(

I agree find something you are passionat about and set a goal. I use to be really into lifting and won medals in martial arts tournaments. After that time period, I just stopped and let myself get to over 300 pounds. 5 months ago I looked at myself in the mirror and was disgusted with what I saw, and I am only 18. so I made a commitment to myself. I wanted to get back in shape and eventually start fighting again. Today, I have lost over 100 pounds and feel better than ever. Just keep it in your mind what you want, and do not stop at anything until you get there. Once you keep it going for a while, it becomes your life style. I never thought I could do it either, I went from eating everything in sight at 3am to where I am now. Only question I ask myself is, why didnt I do this sooner?

Here is my reply if you didn't see it. First off. Go to the doctor and find out if you are or not. They can give you lists of things you can and can't eat and give you a better idea of what to incorporate into your diet. Now based on what I know from my sister, the nutritionist, this may even help your weight loss simply because you'll be cutting out alot of carbs if you are in fact GI. Having GI almost forces you to eat a Paleo type diet. A simple natural diet is your best option with a lot of fruits and veggies since you won't get much fiber from alternative grains. If you have GI you have to be very dilligent, gluten is in alot fo things I'm sure you know. If it says malt it has gluten in it. Most condiments have gluten, and most processed foods. So lots of fruits and veggies. And alternatives if you want pasta or bread but they will be simple carbs normally and low in fiber and not to mention not very tasty. In the weight department having GI can be a sort of blessing but it will indeed make life difficult. Hope that helps girlfriend! |

I haven't posted a pic of me for a while so here is one for Easter with Mike's SS. Mike was in a hurry to snap the pic because we drove his SS to Clarksville & the front was covered with bugs. He wanted them off before the sun went down. I was pleased with myself that the weight I have lost is evident and a bit of tone already in my arms & legs and I did not even try to flex! I have not even been very good with my workouts lately. Go me! This inspires me to work harder. Bring on swimsuit season.

Way to go Rubycamaro!
Spring break went too fast, but I'm glad it's over. I got wrapped up in too many things and still looking at what needs to be done. Sadly I didn't work out or eat as well as I should have. My IPod & IPad hit the treadmill & we're on our cool down right now. I was excited to wear my Levi's... I was a size 12, but my 10's fit great! Time to get back to better eating & exercise. Have a great week!

Ruby, looking great girl! Today's workout. I'm really liking this pyramid workout. It kicks my tail and I love it. I still need to pick up my cadence a bit to get it down to 1 hour...took me 1.5 to get through it today which means I'm taking too long of a break between sets. I'm still stuck at 9% bodyfat dangit! I need to find my notes to see what I did last year to break through that barrier. ![]() Today's Meals: 6am - protein shake 7:15 - 8:45 gym 9:15 - Protein shake (2 scoops) 12pm - baked chicken breast / 2 cups green beans / 1/2 cup brown rice 3pm - carbmaster yogurt / apple 6pm - protein shake (2 scoops) / 1tbsp natural peanut butter 7:30pm - taco salad (6-8oz ground turkey browned with white onion, low sodium taco seasoning, 1/2 cup low fat shredded cheddar, 2tbsp black olives, 1/2 cup refried beans, 1/4 cup chopped tomato, 2tbsp light sour cream, 3tbsp picante sauce, all on a bed of baby spinach (about 4 cups). 10pm - *maybe" another protein shake before bed |

Great job everyone, keep up the good work. Although results are graduall when looking at before and after numbers and pics the results are obvious and quite impressive.
I'm still going strong as well, not sure why but my gains on my lifts are still improving. I am seeing some of my heaviest lifts in years on most lifts. I guess somethings still get better with age LOL. |
