Well just did the download and firmware update and tried to do a data log but it would not recognize any of the PID's. Anyone else tried it?

Yep, just got it working today, been fighting it all week. I have the updated firmware and Livelink 6.5. First I had to update the drivers in the operating system on the computer. The old SCT drivers would not work. Then, start the car first, start Livelink, plug the SCT into the computer and last plug the SCT into the car. Connecting in any other sequence would not work. BTW: Called SCT support twice, Ted Jannetty once, Ted is the one who knew the order in which it would work.
Another to Ted!

Might not be worth "upgrading". The old version was a little bit of a pain but still gets it done. Let us know if you like this new version better once you figure out the bugs.

I tried connecting the other way and it worked fine (first the car, then the computer);
PID-selection works with just the key ON, start not necessary

LiveLink 6.5 tested and all works fine

Going to try this again tonight when I get home for work. Any idea if you can log the start up of the car with the new version?

I have been using 6.5 for a couple months. Was a little flakey at first but found a sequence that works consistently.
SCT is about to release another version of LiveLink. I discovered this week they have an update for the 3400 that supports features of the new version.
The new features involve additional protocols and relearning crank position.

As far as I know - there is an update available for the new version of LiveLink that was supposed to address a couple of issues with the software.

I Recommend if you have a Version that is Working Don't Mess with it.

The new Version of Livelink Requires:

Return car to Stock
Update SCT 3400 with New Firmware.
Reload Tune to Tuner
Reload Tune to Car

Personally I like the old version but the new tuners that are being delivered have the new firmware and will only work with the New Livelink, I believe.

There was initially a couple bugs in the Gen2 Livelink but I heard they have been resolved.

GM Cars have Many different Operating systems, and they all have special requirements to log the PIDs.

Some of My Customers have found some Go Arounds that are Quite interesting.

One of them was to make sure you select 1 Anolog input in the PID list and it works every time, this may not be needed or work on every car.

If it Was Easy it Wouldn't Be Any Fun!!

Ted.

If you open SCT Device Updater and connect your tuner, then select Automatically Update device it will check the device and display the firmware version and will be either GREEN up to date or RED Needs Updating.

I sent you a PM Ted before I saw this thread. Do you know where we can possibly get the old version online?

Me too, same problem. I'm just trying to get a base line before I install a tune.

The one thing I should mention, it appears that if you have newest firmware on your handheld you have to use the new version of LiveLink.

Called SCT today, talked to them about the issue of the PIDs failing when trying to log. I did the use the 1st and then 2nd radio button option. I don't remember the 1st for sure, but I remember the 2nd one, validate PIDs. It took some time, but returned all the PIDs available. I choose about 12 of them. As soon as I hit the start to log icon, a message stated PIDs failed (or something like that). I originally tried data logging on my Gateway netbook with Vista, it's not the cheapy kind of netbook you get for free, but it didn't have enough computing power, would not communicate. So out comes the big a$$ Windows 7 widescreen laptop. Everything went fine but won't log the PIDs. I then choose an analog input along with the PIDs. Program said PIDs failed, but the analog input did log. I just got my SCT X3 model 3400 last week from JRE. The disk that comes with the SCT didn't seem to have any programs on it, basically refers you to the SCT website. I'm at work as of now, so SCT said to call when I get home. SCT stated someone else called Friday about the same issue's. They believe it is a firmware problem. So . But I'm sure the issue will get resolved. Spent at least 6 hrs with this so far, trying different options. I was going to just use the hand held to log, but I was burnt out, seemed as though I couldn't select the PIDs I wanted on the handheld. I give'r h3ll when I get home.

I downloaded it from the SCT website. Couldn't find it anywhere on the supplied cd. Downloaded Device Updater (Gen II ? I think) as well from the SCT website.

With watching the videos of the old LiveLink, the new one seems very easy to navigate. If I could just get it to log.
