Firm believer in J pipes now!!

Have a 2011 2ss Ls3 recently added LT's and cam to my Solo mach x exhaust and it sounded great before the add to the LT's but after that addition The drone that came was terrible!! Felt like i was going to blow my head off!! I hated driving at highway speeds b/c of it almost sold my exhaust for a magnaflow with 3 mufflers lol. But decieded to buy the j pipes and install them and give this exhaust one more try. And man does the J pipes look funky when your underneath it and i was thinking the whole time man this is gonna look like Shit when your behind me but once it was lowered you couldn't even see it! But after the install to the j pipes the drone is 100 percent gone! I can actually hear what the exhaust sounds like!! And it sounds great!!!!! Wish i wouldve done this sooner!! So anyone on edge about the J pipes trying to decide if its worth it or not well yes it is!!! With headers and a cam and the full exhaust is almost as quite as stock at cruising speeds inside the cab but man does it sound great at all driving speeds!! Very pumped!! I think ill go for a ride now!!!

I may have to look into these.
My drone is just tolerable right now. If it gets a lot worse after my H/C swap I'll be doing it.

Um, different pipe. You're talking about midpipes and the OP is referring to J pipes. J pipes go in the rear and are ONLY for getting rid drone.

Does anyone know if the solo axle back will pass the visual smog in CA since its basically a muffler delete?

Why not check out the Dynomax VT mufflers? Thats what I plan on going with. No drone 3" mufflers. Valve inside stays closed during cruising, then opens to straight pipes on WOT. Sound like the best of both worlds to me

Nevermind, sorry, you guys have axlebacks already..... my bad.

No j pipes are only for drone. They don't change sound at all. They are welded onto existing pipes behind the axle. U cut holes I'm your pipes where they bend and add j pipes there. They relive pressure. Hence takes out drone. I'll post pics soon

I agree, drone control only. Can be used with or without mufflers.

Yes is being welded to the pipes so doesn't matter if mufflers are there or not I wouldn't think

Once again, j-pipes or Helmholtz chambers are for the cancellation of a specific sound harmonic frequency. They do nothing to change the exhaust note or tone. Being a closed chamber, they do not affect exhaust flow or pressure, since nothing passes through them.

Candy for your ears.

So exhaust flow isnt affected? Interesting. A pic would be good. How does it not affect flow? Not that I have a problem but will once I go to a 3" system. I was thinking of welding 2 inline resonators offset from each other but would do this if its cheaper and better.
