Well you aren't going to get any HP with just a cat back. But check the marketplace. One guy has a borla cat back that he just wants to get rid of like new.

Build your own, pick the mufflers you want and remove the resonators ( replace with straight pipe ) and reuse the stock tips. I built my own with 1 chambers, best sounding exhaust I have heard is the one I built my self You can pretty much pick any 2.5" mufflers you want. No power gain but I did notice a small increase in throttle respons. Headers will make the power and real sound you want. An exhaust shop can build the exhaust pretty cheap the way I explained it also.

Everyone has what sound they will like. For me, the Flowmaster AMT is second to none and MUCH better sounding than more expensive systems.

If you budget is strictly 1000 and you could squeeze out a bit more.. Borla s type catback goes for like 1070 I think

Yeah, I'd have to agree with a lot of people on here, given your price range, Magnaflow is the best choice.
In fact, even given a millionaires price range, Magnaflow is the best choice!
They sound spectacular, look awesome, don't crack or deteriorate like most other exhausts over time, have the best x-pipe out there (for performance), and are very well priced!

Give us a call for more info!

Get the JBA! I have it and it sounds amazing and I could not beat the $600 price point.

Everyone's opinion on sound is going to be different. What I think is too loud you might think sounds perfect. The best bet is to try to hear some in person if you can. Video clips aren't always accurate.

I'll also say that it will depend if you plan on adding either HF cats or Long Tube headers. These will dramatically change the sound as well. You may buy a cat-back and love the sound with the factory headers but then when you add LTs it might be too loud.

You can also have the opposite affect. The Magnaflow 3" is known to be quiet. With the factory headers it's almost too quiet for most people. If you added just the 3" Magnaflow to your factory headers you'll probably be disappointed. Now, add long tubes to the 3" Magnaflow an it sounds great.

One option to consider if you think you might add LTs down the road but not right now is to do a muffler delete. Usually you can get it done by a local muffler shop for about $100-$150. That will get you some good sound. Then later when you have the money to upgrade to LTs you can buy a LT/cat-back combo that sounds good together.

BTW: if you do decide to go with Magnaflow, check with JDP Motorsports. They've seem to be the best priced with great customer service. Actually, call around to other vendors to get some pricing. Then call JDP and you'll see what I mean.

You can pretty much buy whatever you want for $1,000 short of borla or corsa and those can be had for not much more than $1,000. Since your budget is so high, just decide what you want and go get it.

For me, drone free was more important than exterior sound. I like the sound of my car at WOT, but I like the fact that I don't hear it at 70mph more.

Check out solo performance! Mine sounds great and thanks to there new j pipes it's no drone! Just like corsa but this is deeper and more muscle car sound. And if u add headers later it sounds that much better. I get compliments everyday

There are a lot of options out there in the market for muffler kits, and cat back kits. Hearing it online isn't always the best way, but it can help you make a choice. If you get a chance meet up with your local Camaro club and try and listen to as many of them as you can in person.

From what I have seen here, mufflers are not going to do much HP wise between systems but they do radically effect the sound of the car so choose based off sound first. If there was a 10-15 hp difference between one to the other we have not seen it in most applications.

If you're watching your pennies, why go catback? Why not just do the axleback and save yourself $500. The only gains from an exhaust are sound so why spend more $$ on 2.5in piping when you already have it. Many axlebacks can be had for under $500.

Give Doug Thorley a look. At under $500 shipped, you will not find a better sounding stainless catback system thats also drone free as well. Matter of fact, is less expensive than many axle back systems. I got mine from Maryland Speed and they were great to deal with.

Ok I really appreciate all of your input!I realize now I will gain no hp from cat back...so not to get off course but what if I just get obfuscate longtubes and keep by stock cat back??I haven't heard it in person yet doest sound good? It will be cheaper and produce more power.

I bought the XSPower system on here for $800.00 shipped. It has 1 7/8 long tubes w/off road pipes to a full 3 inch system to the tips. Also included was the 02 extensions. I have NEVER had an engine light from the system and it sounds tame during normal cruising w/no cabin drone. At wide open throttle.....HOLY SHIT....BADASS!!!!!!
