Pedders XA install question...please help!
I'm doing the front XA's and the instructions say to re-assemble the strut bearing and washers to the XA strut but when I removed the top 24mm nut the OE strut dropped out but the bearing assembly stays on the car. Do I need to remove the bearing assembly to install on the XA or can I just insert the XA into the bearing and tighten it down? This also affects how to do the pre adjustment for ride height beacuse it references the procedure assuming the strut bearing is assembled on the XA!

It will be easier to assemble out of the car. This is the best part of the install.
It will come out. |

I've been pounding on it now for 10 minutes and it won't budge. What part of it should I be hammering? I'm using a 1/2" short extension which covers the metal sleeve perfectly so I've been hammering the extension centered on the sleeve.

Got it off! I reinstalled the strut and used it as leverage and just twisted it off! It was really stuck on! The other side came off very easily! Thanks for your help and keep near your computer tomorrow, I may have more questions about setting up the ride height! Thanks!

And this is why Pete rocks.
ssmike, I've done XAs in the front of mine as well. Plus drop springs before that. I'm pretty familiar with them. I'm not Pete but if you, for whatever reason, can't get ahold of Pete shoot me a PM. I'll be buzzing around the French Quarter but I'll have my phone. I'm pretty familiar with this set-up. I can help out over the phone as well. |
