Borla Atak + long tube headers. What do you think?

I have a Borla Atak Catback and I was planning on buying long tube headers. I would like to hear you opinion. What do you think? Is it too loud ( in a bad way)?

From everything I've read about that setup it's going to be really loud. Some will like that, some won't.

The ATAK was acoustically designed for stock...

Yes, there are some guys that have ATAK with LTs and love it. It seems a bit raspy to me and it is very, very loud. With that said, I have can name off a handful of people that sold their ATAK mufflers and swapped back to touring or S type.

+1

I'm one of those people. The ATAK catback is badass with manifolds, but after I added LT's it was just obnoxious, and not in a good way. The deep muscle car tone is gone, replaced with this horrible, raspy scream. I just sold the ATAK from the axle-back and bought an S-type axleback. Bolted right up to the leftover Borla pipes. Now the sound is still way loud at WOT, but is so deep at idle that I can feel the bass from inside my house.

It is not that bad!
What about short headers? Is it different from long tube in terms of sound with borla Atak?

Haha. I shot the video in my garage and only revved it to about 4k because the sound was ear-splitting bouncing off of the walls. No way computer speakers can recreate it. That being said, if you like the sound of a NASCAR stock car and can handle it any time you drive, then it might be for you.

Shorties will be quieter, but IMHO you won't see enough performance gains from them to justify even putting them on.

Here's a video of my 2012 with LTs and Borla S-type. I have no cats, but a pair of high-flows will make the note even deeper...

Sounds alot better IMO. I agree that the ATAK with LT's is a bit annoying/obnoxious, but with the S Type its just right.

I just got the ARH long tubes put on with my Borla ATAK's. I personally think it sounds crazy.... in a good way. But that is my opinion. I have videos but it would be worthless to post them as it was too loud for my phones mic to capture decently. In person it is extremely loud, but if you drive it normally, as in accelerating gingerly, there is not much of a volume increase with the headers. There is what I can only describe as a broader, deeper sound, but not much more volume unless you realy get on it.

Don't get me wrong, there is more volume with headers but you only notice a majority of the increased noise when you start to get on it.

To me the atak is loud and a little obnoxious with long tubes, but i like it! It's really not that bad..do you guys not remember when the 4th gens were out running around with LT'S, no cats, and the loud mouth 1? Now that was loud lol..or the 4th gens with the adjustable borla system...everyone would just run it wide open lol...to me those were louder then a 5th gen with longtubes and the atak...just my opinion..if your coming from a previously loud car then this won't be bad...if your daily driver is really quiet and then you hear this its gonna seem really loud

One thing to keep in mind, depending on where you live, LT and the Atak will get you pulled over a ton.

^ Unless you don't gun it in front of the police...

But in all seriousness, whether you have a sound limit in your area or not, LT's and the ATAK will probably get you pulled over if they hear it at WOT.

We had a guy in our car club with ARH and Borla Atak. That car was very loud. It sounded like a NASCAR stock car when he cranked it up. It had a very raspy sound to it and the one time I rode in it with that system on it you couldn't hear yourself think. He switched it out for a flowmaster setup.

I have atak with ARH longtubes. Yeah, its sounds awesome! Loud? Not really, unless your under wot. It cruises and runs around town and is not obnoxious as some claim here. Phone and personal conversations can be held in the cabin with out raising your voice. I have pulled up next to police and driven away without them even looking over at me. I agree it is a deep, raspy, nascar sound which is why I like it. Its different than everyone elses car!
