GFX Exhaust fit a non GFX Car?

Hey guys,

I have a chance to buy a scratch and dent exhaust from a local store. It is a Borla ATAK catback....they have it deeply discounted.

The only issue is it says it is made for a 2010-2012 Camaro with factory ground effects which I do not have.

When looking online I can't tell a difference, although I know there is a difference somewhere or else they would not label it GFX only.

Is there a simple retro-fit I could make to make it work?

I don't want to buy it if it isn't going to work.

Thanks.

It probably just doesn't come with tips. You can always add those yourself.

Yeah, virtually that should be the only difference, the tips, and even then sometimes the tips are the same.

There's no other difference. The factory GFX cars have that strange (I think ugly) angular exhaust tip thingamo...the non GFX cars just have round tips coming through the round holes in the rear plastic.

If I were in your shoes, I'd buy it, and then if necessary, change the tips to something that fits...if they don't.

Yea pretty much. I dont see them making GFX cars sound different or changing the shape of the muffler body, so it should just be the tips that are different since the GFX cars are limited to I believe a 3" tip or so, whereas non GFX can go up to 5" tips or so.

It'll fit...the tips are about 1/4" smaller in diameter from what I've seen.

(Not a Borla dealer, but I've retrod a few.)

We normally just take the tips off and install the MBRP OEM GFX Tips that are made for that setup.

Let us know if you have any other detailed questions!

I purchased it!

I have a question, I've been searching. Non GFX ATAK's use borla tip style 35....can someone give me the dimensions of the tips... I want to order some that are different from the tips that come on it stock!

Stock SS tips are 4" and need to be cut back almost to nothing long to accomodate the GFX. The "for cars with GFX" notation means no tips so that they do not have to be cut back. They also sometimes change the mandrel bend on aftermarket exhaust a bit to provide clearance. Hope that helps
