Which "Missing" RPO Engine Would You Prefer?

At this very moment, NO LS7 or LSA/LS9 is available direct from Oshawa Production. Given the option, which one would you consider?

1) LS7 - 427

2) LSA/LS9 - Supercharged

LS7. Already very proven and can add s/c to it later if you wanted.

Personally, I would be happy with the LS7. Nice split between the current LS3 and the mighty LS9.

Too bad it is not long for this world. Would have been a nice compromise in terms of HP ratings.

LS9 no question. Don't get me wrong, the LS7 is a fantastic ENGINE and will go down as one of the best of our time. I'll admit I'm partial to boost and the potential of the LS9 is ridiculous (who wants a 700hp bolt on car, I do!). GT500's wouldn't have a prayer.

fixed for the nitpickers

LS7 FTW.

To be honest, anything more like the LSX/9 would be more than I need or want. The LS7 would hit the sweet spot.

Wasn't there a reason Chevy didn't use a SC version of the LS7 in the ZR1? Something about the walls were too thin to handle FI reliably.

Correct me if i'm wrong.....

I'm going LS9, LS7 is great and a proven performer but I feel I can get pretty close to LS7 performance with some mods on the LS3.

i was wondering who else would say something like that. Motors are electric, but all joking aside i would do the LS7. Good base line power, lots more on tap if needed.

here we go...............

the reason i didn't order my 2010 2SSRS earlier, is cuz i was going to wait for the LS7 Z28 next year. when GM gave the project the boot, i scrambled to get a 2010 ASAP.

if GM now decides to build the LS7 for the projected $42k - $45k pricetag....i'll be bent....

as for your question.......................LS7 (bulletproof)

Thumbs up

I'd go LS7 ALL THE WAY!!!
Just something about a N/A engine!! Especially an LS7 427.
Is there talk something like this might be coming down the pike?!?!?
I would LOVE to have that option.

so how much more potential, exactly, does the LS9 have over the GT500 engine? I'm curious.

I am truly shocked at how many of you are choosing the engine that is either 50 HP or 130 HP down from LSA/LS9.

I've driven the CTS-V with the LSA. A car slightly heavier than a Camaro. SIGN ME UP!!!!

I think the LS7 would leave you wanting just a teeeeny bit more. But a guy who worked for me bought one of the first C6 Z06s. Cam, port and polish, headers. 500+ at the rear wheel. But NOT a ZR-1 and not even close or so I am told by those that have driven his car and the ZR-1.

Boy that was a long way to say I'd take the LSA.

Irrelevant.

IF GM released a version with the LSA or LS9 as a stock option it would be more powerful that what is currently available in the GT500

I'm not possitive on the full potential of the LS9, however Lingenfelter gets a 12% increase in HP in the LSA for 2k. So if that would hold true they could safely give a LS9 about 720 HP. Just speculation on my part.
