After Ford brought out its potentially ZL1-killing 650-horsepower 2013 Shelby GT500, Joel Ewanick, global vice president of GM marketing, decided to drop the gauntlet down at the feet of Ford. "We should take a Camaro, Ford brings a Mustang, we each pick our drivers, and see who has the best time on the Nürburgring," Ewanick said to Scott Burgess of the Detroit News. Jim Farley, who heads Ford's global marketing, wasn't taking the bait despite professed claims to a desire to "take a bat" to Chevrolet. "I wish we could," he said, after hearing about Ewanick's challenge. "Who wouldn't want to do that?" Huh. Sounds to us like maybe Ford's chicken. Hey, Farley — bawk-bawk-bawk-BA-kawk!

Ford - Carl Edwards

How epic would that be ? Both are very talented road racers ...

I would love the see the race between those 2 cars at the Nürburgring! wow! that would be a show I would buy on Pay Per View.
With two Pro Drivers that everbody knows and a couple of hot chicks to prep the cars...Lets get in on!!

Quick comment before this one gets out of hand...

We don't allow the Ford and Chrysler owner operators to bash on Camaros, so if you have a comment of worth, feel free to post it... If you just want to mention un-necessary comments with no worth or value, then keep them to yourself. Two comments have already gone away and there were only four at the time...

I would put a F1 or Le Mans driver behind the wheel of those cars before I ever chose those two, or anyone in that sport for that matter.

Come on guys, this was a fairly silly challenge and an obviously desperate attempt to save face after the 650 horse/202 mph announcement from Ford.

A race, in Germany, in winter, when Ford is about 3 months behind GM in the development cycle? Silly.

They should do it. If Ford isnt lying, they have no reason NOT to prove theyre better. But since they refused, what does that say?

I would Think Ford could have the best stock car Road driver in Marcos Ambrose.
and to beat Ambrose Chevy would need to put someone like Tony Stewart!

BUT.... it is so much fun driving the Ring in snowy (or for that matter, nowhere near perfect, dry, sunny) conditions

Really, I take it you don't care for NASCAR ... For what it's worth Stewart is one of the most talented drivers in the world and has won Championships in every discipline he raced in.

Match up at the Nürburgring
ZL1 vs GT500

2 session races of 5 laps with best time for each drivers
Ambrose vs Stewart
Edwards vs K. Bush

I think they just might be claiming things that arent true, or arent true yet. Maybe the numbers theyve given are estimated, but not actually confirmed yet. I have no idea, its just strange to me that if they really do have what they say, why in the world would they say no? Maybe theyre just being weird and dont want to, but i cant see why they wouldnt.
