If you are looking for performance, mustang all the way. you can get one with the performance package for less than 25k.

What are you looking for out of the two cars?

Performance, comfort, MPG, affordability, etc?

I voted for the V6 Mustang due to the larger aftermarket part selections like Procharger.

American Muscle did a great multi-stage multi-episode build up of their V6 project and I posted a link so you can watch the series.

Well considering v6 cars, neither one is "performance in my book" sorry but I have a higher level for that word than entry level versions of either of these two cars. Are they sporty? Yes. So then if I was looking for 1 of these 2 cars to drive around town and look cool, while feeling "sporty" I would buy the Camaro. Looks much better imho and so it seems to the general public(see sales figures), it will turn heads way more than the mustang will. There is no "Bang" when talking "performance" in either offering. More like a little "pop" than a "bang"..Lol..

Well I def like the camaro more (better looking), they seem to be around the same price range, I won't be modding it except some minor things to the outside and inside but nothing like supercharger etc.

1) MPG
2) Better Maintenance (less costy)
3) Affordability

Go test drive both and decide what feels right to you. No one can tell you what the best bang for your buck is. If I was serious, I would tell you to skip the cars and take your $ to Vegas, I hear some places you really get a good "bang" for your buck.

I'd go with the camaro but I mean you are on a camaro forum...My friend has a 2011 Mustang V6 and ya, it's a great looking car and not as expensive for around equal features(hp, leather seats, blahdy blah) but it just doesn't turn heads as much as the camaro. I get a lot more questions like "is that your car?", "can I sit in it!?" and just compliments from random people than he does, even before I started modding it. Also, if you're interested in speed I don't care what anyone else says, from experience the Mustang is much more maneuverable on the street IMO, but I've ran him a good bit on provate streets and it's always down to a drivers race, so if you're looking for speed but not interested in track times, you're pretty much great either way. But IMHO and those of most people I know, the camaro is much more impressive visually just riding on the street. Both great cars, but the camaro just feels much better to ride in in my opinion, there's just a feeling there that you don't get with a mustang. But that's just me, go drive both and see what you like, can't go wrong either way.

Now that you say this I think you would be better off with the Camaro since I now know you are looking for bang for your buck body mods vs performance and the Camaro has the current V6 Mustang beat when it comes to looks.

But a 2013 V6 Mustang with its updated GT500 front end and new rear with the right aftermarket body mods will look fresh and might attract just as much attention because it will be the new kid on the block and easily get confused for the GT500, just like people asking V6 owners if theirs is an SS model.

Like others have said go drive both and see which YOU like the best. Maybe rent each one for a day and do your own compro without a salesman in the car.

Here are some mag compro vids if you are concerned about the total package and driving experience.

^Eh, the 2013s all look the same in the front now (V6, Boss, GT), and the GT500 just has a different bumper, but still looks the best. The Camaro still has that concept car look and I think will turn more heads. If I would have gotten the Camaro instead of my Mustang, I wouldn't have done any body mods to it, unlike my Mustang.

So you definetly should get the Camaro if you are looking for appearance and head turning ability w/ a little sportiness to the driving experience.

Now if you were asking about 5.0 Stang vs Camaro SS which of those is the most performance bang for the buck I would say the 5.0 mustang. Mainly because of the weight and the fact that you don`t get a detuned motor like you do in the Camaro if you get the automatic version. There was no 5.0 out when I bought my SS and the 4.6 was down almost a 100hp, or even as much as it pains this GM guy to say it, I might have been pimping a 5.0 since I like to drag race, and win....Lol..

It's funny, I asked this same question before I purchased my camaro and guess which car is better for performance? I know I don't drive one. I can't believe most peoples said the v6 camaro. It might be true within this camaro forum but in reality the mustang win in this department. It is what it is.

Procharger american muscle V6 mustang is in the 11's now. Plenty of fuel options when going FI, cheap gears, ton's of tuning options, etc..

If you want the most bang for the buck performance, look at 4 cylinder turbos like the wrx, mitsu ralliart, etc.. same price you will pay to buy a mustang v6 or the camaro v6 and can get you in the 12's easy under a grand usually.

edit: I guess you are asking "overall"?? then I would have to say the camaro but def not performance vs performance.

If you're looking for balls out performance, get something used with more oomph. If you are looking for decent performance in a nice vehicle with a warranty, neither will steer you wrong. Go test drive them and pick whichever makes you happier.
