I really do love those Corsairs. I loved the Black Sheep Squadron

I do have to be honest and say that my favorite WW2 plane is the P-51D Mustang. Corsair is a close second. I'd LOVE to fly either.

Have about 1 whole hr dual in the P-51 from down here.LOL Late great Uncle had a P-51 Bought it for $21,000 and sold it for $28,000! back in the 60's when I was a young kid. Found out just two years ago(from the coworker who took the above pix) it is still flying as Ain't Misbehavin. Man would love to get up and close to see it again.

Love all the old warbirds... even the zero and messerschmitts

Isn't the AF still flying a modern T6?

AWESOME. As a former Marine, I love the corsair. Have several models and am looking at purchasing a gas model with 4 ft wing span. Wonder if the model will make the same noise as the real one in a dive??????

Where was this and can anyone visit?

I have always been a fan of the B-17 myself. Especially after going up in the "Sentimental Journey".

If you ever get the chance to fly in a Extra 300.... take it! Anything rated at +/- 10 G's is going to be a good time!

My Grandfather on my dads side flew the B-24 during WWII. My dad got his fathers entire aircraft instruction and familiarization manuals...

My parents have promised them to me when it's time for them to be handed down...

I loved reading them as a teenager... There are a few silly cartoon characters in them to point out certain absolute do not do items... There are about 20 or so of the books in the set... and it is in total, about the size of a set of encyclopedias.

P-38 is my alltime favorite aircraft...

Edward Jablonski wrote the two book set called Airwar...

I used to read about Richard Ira Bong and Thomas McGuire in their chase for the ace records... Bong officially held it with 40 when he returned to the States and McGuire died a short time later in a plane crash against a Japanese instructor pilot with over 3000 hours in the type aircraft, and McGuires aircraft snap rolled into the ground just two kills behind Bong... Bong died soon after the War in a Jet incident as a test pilot. He was a Major with 40 victories and was only 24 when he died... I always thought he looked like a very very young Harry Morgan, Colonel Potter of Mash Fame...

The P-47 piloted by Neel Kirby was close behind them in the Pacific theater. I don't recall his official victory count but what amazed me about him was doing this in the P-47... With the huge radial engine and no radiator, it could take tremendous punishment, but it was very heavy and had a tendancy to not pull out of high speed dives... The control surfaces on the tail (ailerons I believe is the term) would actually flex and bend in the opposite direction the pilots were trying to command... leading to terminal flights... Kirby was able to take advantage of the Speed of the P-47 and fly around the inherent problems... and was incredibly successful... though even he wasn't the highest scoring ace in the '47...

F2G and the F4U were the same plane but from different manufacturer. The wasp R2800 was a monster engine. The P38 is my favorite plane next too the P-51 and P-47

Thanks guys never expected that many replies. Have flown numerous jet, prop warbird, aerobatic aircraft over the years of my career and all time favorite and never flown is the P-38. Currently grounded by the FAA from my Airline job. Really miss being up there. :( Thanks for sharing the pictures! Really appreciate it.
The pictures were taken over AZ outside Phoenix. Scotty(the photographer) is an Airbus F/O and coworker. Another Coworker is flying his T6 as the photo plane.

He does most of his flying and photography with the Warbirds out Of Chino,CA Valle,AZ and Falcon Field in the Phoenix area. Also races in the Sport Division at Reno. Yes there are museums at the fields.

Would love those Corsairs even more if done in military colors.

But more than how they look is how they sound.

Awesome!!
