VIN 0001 at Hendrick's May 2nd

I went to Hendrick's today and saw VIN 0001 here are a couple of pics. It is an awesome ride. The black with the IMO interior and stripes look great. I also saw a 1LT with cloth, the cloth is much better in person than in the photos.

Here's an album of some of the pics I got at the Unveiling Event yesterday.

I enjoyed meeting and talking with all of you that stopped by yesterday and I look forward to the next time that we can all get together and talk about OUR cars.

Off to install a 4 post lift. Uggghhhh!!!

Here's the album. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/album.php?albumid=330

I hate I did not meet you guys. I was there from 10:30 until about 12:30. I was on my way to Wrightsville Beach and just had to stop by. I did meet cam2fast4u from Stanley VA.

Great Pictures Protoman3! Sure don't look like you just started photography. I was their yesterday too. My car was the '99 Hugger Orange SS. I thought Hendrick's did a nice job with the unveiling and was glad to see such a good number of people interested in the 5th Gen. It was nice meeting and talking with you NVMY68SS. (BTW, Nelson, my name, for the 3rd time, is Jeff) Ha, Ha!

I LOVED your SS I believe I took a picture if the LS1 in it. I want to find an LS1 for my 98, (the Black with silver stripes that was there) you definately have a beautiful machine.

It was a pleasure to see both the Camaro and some of our Camaro5 brothers and sisters. Some traveled for many hours to be there for the Reveal. Special thanks to the Camaro5 team that had the classic car show, give-aways and raffle. It was a great day filled with great cars, awesome people and good food. Thanks for the hard work that went into pulling off such an event.

LSxJunkie,

Those are actually 1968 models. One of them was also vin #1. Both of them together had a total of 3.5 miles.

No. Just no. '69 was a one-off body style. That year only, even though production ran into 1970, which is why the first year of the 2nd Gen is 1970 1/2.

Tuxedo Black 1968 Z/28 RS Front

Hugger Orange 1969 Z/28 RS Front

From the front, the differences are obvious. Fog lights, RS grille, RS headlights, and fenders were all changed.

Tuxedo Black 1968 Z/28 RS Rear

Hugger Orange 1969 Z/28 RS Rear

From the rear, note the taillights and the downward slope of the 67/68 vs the horizontal 69 quarter panels. From both front and rear you can see that the 67/68s had round wheel wells, as opposed to the more square 69s.

They even had different interiors between the two years.

1968 Interior

Round gauges, knobs, and air vents. HVAC and Radio in the center, both oriented horizontally.

1969 Interior

Square gauge bezels, square vents, HVAC mounted vertically next to the tach and radio (blocked by steering wheel) horizontally underneath.

I don't think the two cars shared a single panel.

Well, it's the first regular production car with a VIN ending in A9100001. Now, there are untold numbers of CTF (captured test fleet) cars out there that were built before this one. So, it's kind of a loaded question.

Oh, and it's his first 2010 Camaro as well.

For those that aren't aware, Hendrick Durham Automall has a Facebook page and they have a lot of photos from this past Saturday's event on it. Here's a link. Enjoy!
