Official Word from Chevrolet:
“Dealers receiving these initial retail ZL1 units
should expect a longer than usual shipping process.
Deliveries of these initial retail ZL1 units are
tentatively scheduled for arrival to
dealerships in early to mid-March 2012.”

It will be .... Worth the Wait!!

I'd like to hang out in the waiting room even though I'm still at 1100. I can help make myself useful around here by administering the Aspirin (and tranquilizers) for those that need it.

I don't think GM is going to be sitting on 10's of millions of $$ in ZL1's for 6 weeks waiting for what? Maybe a few, but not the entire inventory. They have shaken down any major issue's already and want to get these car's on the street. Just my .02.

I wonder if it will be like the first time around? Where the first 5th gens were produced, held back in Area 51, and later VINs getting delivered??? If so, it would be interesting to see how people would handle that

I went thru that with my first 5th gen purchase. It was produced on 4/29/09 and delivered on 6/31/09!

If that is the case, they can make mine on 2/13 with no problem

FINALLY hit 3400! Can anyone tell me why my GMconnects is always a couple of days behind? (it just showed up today...)

Status 01/31/2012 - (3400) Order Broadcast (internal plant paperwork order produced). Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together.

And the waiting game continues...

My buddy from GM called me yesterday to tell me even thou my car was built, I wouldn't see it for 30 days. I told him I already knew, because of this forum. So all I can say is what you guys are hearing is the same thing I'm hearing in motown.

Well now that I can rest easy knowing that my ZL1 exists with a VIN, I need to get ready for it to come home in a month or so. Right now my son's 69 Chevelle is taking up two parking spots at our house as we are knee deep in a frame-off on it...

I can hardly wait for this amazing machine to arrive. My ZL1 apparently was built on February 2nd and is at code 4B00 now, built, bayed and ready to ship. I also have the VIN number showing it is just barely over the 100th built. Does anyone know how many ZL1s they plan on building for the 2012 model year? When are they starting the 2013 ZL1 coupe builds?

Congrats and Welcome... you came to the right place to hang out..

Don't think anyone knows how many 2012's will be built yet... total wild guess would be 3k range... There are 171 built so far. Sometime mid-year end of June or so the 2013's should start.

What is the last 3 of your VIN and your order number so Becky can track it for you.

Yes sir... they are giving your car some special QA/QC treatment. They did the same thing in 2009 when the 5th Gens 1st rolled off the line. Some of the higher serial number cars actually arrived at dealerships before the low ones. That shouldn't be the case this time but they are definitely on hold right now.
