Yea.....but don't be a wussy yo.....

I have seen the pipes pointed down before, only problem is when you rev the car up, it blows away all the dirt and debris all around the car and up in the air, towards the crowd and the nooks and crannies underneath the car too.

yeah, but if he runs sidepipes...

not to mention, he could run cutouts with turndowns. won't use them much when sitting still. and you'd be suprised at how much dirt and debris gets flung at your car during regular operation already.

I don't need to tune the car for it?

I was actually thinking I could just use clamps and an in line 'Y' pipe.

yes and no. depends on how close to the o2 sensors you mount the cutouts

as for the 'Y' pipe, that is the actual "cutout"

you can either run a manual one (as seen above) where you have to manually unbolt the cover to open it.
or you can run one with an electric motor on it like this:

and you can clamp them on.

depending on the LT's you have, if they have a 3 bolt flange on them to bolt up the rest of the exhaust system, you could have some matching flanges welded to the cutouts, then bolt them in. there's numerous options.

there's also the exhaust diverters. more pricey and takes up more space, but it dumps ALL of the exhaust out the side as opposed to opening up an extra path for the exhaust to go thru

the ones seen below have 2 butterfly valves inside, one for the cutout side and one for the regular exhaust side at perpendicular angles to each other so that when one is open, the other is closed.

what company is that? can't say I've ever seen electrical cutouts quite like that...

They're some company called 'Dougs'. I have a client who showed me them and said that in his opinion they are better than the butterfly type because they don't leak.

I think we should move this thread from post #44 on to a new thread in the exhaust section.

Ah, now its coming back to me. I've never seen a cutout that didn't leak after some amount of engine running hours.

Long as it doesn't throw a code or make the car run funny I'm not concerned about small leaks.

well, it can. I can't guarantee that it will throw a code however.

basically, depending on the proximity of the cutout to the o2 sensors, fresh air will actually go into the exhast and give a false reading and the computer will try to make up for it. but, I don't see it being a huge issue unless you run open cutouts all the time.
