Got my order today. Very fast shipping. Thanks guys. Now, when the rain stops, I can clean the car and detail it.

I would like to get Adam's Basic Flex XC3401VRG Polisher Kit. Are there any deals on this kit going on?

I started poking around to see about Flex vs PortaCable. It seems most say PC is the better way to go...especially for cost if you're just a hobby detailer. I would only be doing my 2 cars. It seems a PC package is much more pocket book friendly....which I need since I'm doing exhaust and intake at this time. Any thoughts on this?

The Flex is a far nicer tool, but if your shopping on price, yes... the PC would be the better way to go. Honestly, they both have their strong points:

The Flex:
capable of more correction in less time
more comfortable/ergonomic design
less vibration which translates to less fatigue during use

The PC:
less steep learning curve
lower cost to start out
wider variety of pad/plate sizes can be used
better for waxing/glazing purposes

The hard part is coming to grips with the initial investment. I'm also new to this sort of car care and don't want to burn my paint or strip my clear coat.

Junkman gave me some good advice on what to look at.

The initial cost can be a bit of shock, especially when you're new to this level of detailing. The best way to look at it is the cost of the alternative - a quality detail by a qualified detailer is going to set you back at least $250... and thats just 1 time.

With the investment in the DIY supplies you have the tools to do it yourself many many many times... and maintain it yourself. By the 2nd time you detail your car yourself the kit has somewhat paid for itself, take care of a couple of buddies cars and you're back in the black!

As far as the worry about 'burning' or 'stripping clear' off of your car... common, but completely unfounded fears with the types of tools you're looking at.
