Well order Hawk Ceramic for my SS. Put them on and my car sounds like a freaking school bus. Should of searched more I guess now that I see many others with the same problem.

Don't know about the ceramic pads, but I can tell you what will happen with the HPS pads. Just more damn screaming...from the pads and the wife about the pads. I had the HPS on my 4th Gen and never had a problem one. No noise and no dust. Going to replace them when I get home, but don't know with what yet. Defiantly not Hawk.

Sorry you're having issues with them...I use the Hawk HPS and very litttle noise. When they do start to make some noise, I just take them out and hammer the throttle to about 50mph and slam on the brakes down to 25mph, then repeat 2 more times, usually resolves the noise issue for me...

IMHO brake squeal is good. It tells people to get the fu outta the way! I really hate those people who text and walk.

My Hawk ceramic pads have never uttered a peep in over 20,000 miles. I didn't put anything on the backsides or on the pins--did absolutely nothing noise control-wise. Also had my calipers powdercoated and they removed the caliper weights as well--still no noise. First time Murphy has left me alone.

hawk ceramics are great in the dust control area, but absolutely sound horrible. I remedied the problem with the purchase of a set of dba 5000 front rotors with slots...(not cross-drilled). They make a slight sqeek but the noise has gone done a lot. Before that with the stock rotors I wanted to shoot myself every time I hit the brakes.

I have Stillen slotted/drilled rotors and Hawk ceramics and never had a squeek problem! Quiet as a mouse! Maybe it's the combination of ceramics with stock rotors that's the probelm.

Well it is strange, first day loud as a school bus. Since then pretty quite, a little chirping heard pulling into my garage but that is it.

What is really odd by looking at the rotors you can see they do not use all the rotor like the stocks one did. I have maybe a 1/4 inch on the near the hub that is silver, the rest of the rotors are blueish looking and worn from the new pads.

They might have just needed to set into the rotors? My HPS+ pads were hell until I replaced the rotors, the old stock rotors ahd grooves I could see and feel with my finger. Everything has been fine since I replaced the rotors and re-bed the pads.

I am curious.

I am currently installing the Hawk ceramics on my car but, I bought a new set of rotors due to reading before that the factory pad material already embedded in my factory rotors would not do well with new pads of a different material.
I also read that some guys were sanding or turning their rotors to remove the old pad material.

For those of you with the noises are you using your original rotors and if you are did you do any prep on them before installing the Hawks?

If not that may be the cause of the noise issue and would explain why the noises go away for some of you as the rotors wear to the new pads or when the rotors have been replaced.

I think the bigger issues is for guys who replace the pads and run their original rotors. The factory pads have transferred materials to the original rotors. It may require a good bedding and re- bedding. My plan is to replace the rotor when I switch pads. You can find a set of take off rotors for less than $100 shipped from SLP's ebay store.

I agree, new rotors solved the problem for me. I only had to replaced the front rotors.

Not sure if it was done.
But were the rotors resurfaced before the swap?

That is a must on any vehicle, anytime you put a fresh pad on.
