4 wheel alignment?

Have a 2010 1LT Camaro..... 12k miles ago i put on the 20" SS wheels, Checked the back tires and bald as hell. So bad that on the rear passenger tire inside is showing threads.

I called a few places to check prices on alignments along with the dealer. 169.00 for lifetime at Expert Tire.

SO the Dealer returned my call, said he was not sure that since the Camaro's are RWD, didn't think that they could do a 4 wheel alignment.

I searched the fourm, Camaro's need a 4 wheel alignment CORRECT?

Yes, it needs a 4 wheel alignment. The rear is an IRS and has toe and camber adjustment. The Dealer is probably forgetting that the car does not have a solid axle and has IRS which requires alignment as well. Its amazing that anybody can work at a GM service department and not know this....

Are the tires bald all the way across or just worn excessively on the inner or outer edges? If it is the inner or outer edges that are worn, you have a camber problem, if it is evenly worn you have a toe problem....or a heavy right foot

Camber and or a toe problem... Man, HONEST I never peeled those tires..... What is weird is the tires have no tread at all, fronts have 1/2 the tread. I think before I bought the car it was in a accident. Nothing showed up on the carfax, but it had the rear quarter painted.

thanks again I really appriciate the quick response!!!!

If the tires are just plain bald and corded at this point that's a strong indicator that the Toe setting is out of alignment. Absolutely time for a trip to the dealer or a local race shop for a quality alignment... as well as a set of new tires. :(

Same scenario with me. The rear toe on my car was way off. The PZeros wore even but were gone. Fronts were perfect.

The dealer did mine to the specs I wanted.

If it feels unstable when driving and the rear tires are gone.I would get it up on a lift and make sure there is nothing bent like a control arm ect.if it looks good have the alignment done. It is a 4 Wheel alignment. If the shop needs specs or advice feel free to give us a call.

Ya I'd say unstable, like it seems you constantly have to steer the car. I always thought it was because of the wide tires. Stupidity on my part, gonna cost me a set of tires.

Any ideas on how wide you can go with on the front and rear stock 20" rims? Stock sizes would be fine with me if i didn't like fat bottoms so much....

Now, mine would "swim" if there were ruts or uneven road. But my Vette did that too and I believe it was due to the staggered set up. With my 18"s back on it doesn't do it.

I was late to the game getting the alignment done and paid the price after a road trip.

Mine is not as bad with the 18's on but still does it. This is what I found for what fits:

Recommended 20" tires for 2010 Camaro
245/45-20 = 28.7" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
255/45-20 = 29.0" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
265/40-20 = 28.4" tall, 8.5-9.0 wheel
275/40-20 = 28.7" tall, 9.0-9.5 wheel
285/40-20 = 28.9" tall, 9.0-10.0 wheel
295/35-20 = 28.1" tall, 9.5-10.5 wheel
305/35-20 = 28.4" tall, 10.0-10.5 wheel
315/35-20 = 28.7" tall, 10.5-11.0 wheel
